    NBA Jam for Wii

Electronic Arts confirms 'NBA Jam' for Wii

Electronic Arts has confirmed it will remake the classic arcade hoops game NBA Jam for the Nintendo Wii.

The title, slated for release later this year, will stick to the roots of the original and add a few additional features.

"Diehard fans of the original game have been asking for a remake for more than a decade," says EA Sports President Peter Moore in a statement. "We're very excited to give them their wish this year with the return of this iconic franchise."

Rumors of an NBA Jam resurrection were first reported by ESPN, who said the original title's creator was brought to EA's Vancouver studio to work on the game.

It appears the revamped game will retain a similar gameplay style, but will add "true-to-life body types, updated physics, and visible player emotion," says an EA release.
Why I found this on USA Today, I don't know. But I'm excited nonetheless.

I have this really "sick to my stomach" feeling EA is going to ruin it... shame too because I loved NBA Jam, I was unstoppable with the Knicks

The real question is: who is man enough to run with the Dallas Mavericks. God, they were terrible.

I remember NBA Jam being made by Midway and not EA. Although Midway went out of business last year.

64 blitz was the best sports game ever created, even beating out mario tennis 64.

Midway did most of the over the top sports titles. NBA Jam, NFL Blitz, and don't quote me on this but MLB Home Run Contest. Sometimes that realistic feel can be a little to much for the casual gamer so these games were a breath of fresh air.
EA fucked everything up with their 10+ year exclusive contract to NFL titles. Midway went out of business mainly because of that, 989 had some rough times, and 2K sports couldn't do NFL titles even though I liked their games better. With no competition Madden games had little or no creativity. You'd get identical clones of each year's game with one or two gimmicks added for good measure. (fuck QB vision) Not to mention EA is killing video game music by signing whatever recording artist is semi relevant at the time. EA fucking ruins everything and I think NBA Jam is going to be fucked up too now that I think about it.

I remember wasting many hours on NBA Hangtime for the N64, was Jam for the SNES similar?

Also, what'd I miss with Blitz, never got around to it, but I enjoyed the not-so-serious sports games of that era.

I liked NBA and NFL Street from what I remember.

They were nothing like the NBA Jam of old, but they weren't all that bad.

I normally abhor from playing sports games, but Jam and Blitz were fucking awesome. I remember having to buy a second cartridge of Jame because I played the hell out of the first one.

To be honest, I remember playing with Dallas, and they were okay. I tried Golden State though, and they were terribad

If they brought Blitz to Wii though I would definatly buy a Wii
