    Wierd HD problem

I got a new SATA hd to replace my old IDE hd. After setting everything up and removing my old IDE hd the computer stopped booting up. It reaches a screen that says please select boot device even the bios is set up correct.

My mb is the ASUS P5GC-MX/1333.

Tried almost everything, any input is appreciated.

did you install an OS on the new HDD?

make sure you have the SATA on the bios set to master and not slave

check your connections(yeah i know but i overlook this sometimes when i rush)

Yes, what does "setting everything up" mean? Was the IDE drive your boot drive?

The IDE drive has xp on it and the sata drive has win 7. When I have both hd in it lets me choose the which os I want to use but if I take out the IDE it says there is no boot device. In the bios there's a list of drives and the IDE one is always set to primary master while the Sata is set to third master. I tried changing it but the sata one wont go into the primary slot. In another area of the bios it lets you choose which hd has priority but if i put the sata hd as first I get the same no boot device message.

your master boot record is on the ide drive. I'd take it out and just reinstall win7 on the sata drive.
