Where do you guys find hair styles?

As far as men's hair is concerned, I can safely say google has failed me. The only thing I've been able to find are crappy blogs with gobs of random celebrity head-shots that aren't even necessarily stylish. Right now I'm relegated to screencaps from movies lol. Anyone got something better? Thanks, thanks.

I've pretty much invented (well, that's a strong word, let's go with innovated) the majority of my hairstyles besides the mohawk / liberty spikes. Just be creative and have fun with it, it grows back.

I'd be open to it, but I honestly can't think of a time I've gotten a haircut that I liked unless I brought in a picture with me. After a handful of awful cuts that I've had to just grow out of, I'm at the point of just dealing with the growth up until I find something I really like.

Just as long as you don't go with the "my hair exploded" look or the faux-hawk, you can't go too horribly wrong. Faux-hawk is the worse fucking thing I've ever seen.

Start cutting / buzzing -> live with what you do.

Most haircuts, if you look at them objectively, look like a 3 year old had his/her way with someones hair. If you massively fuck up your hair people will just think you're creative.

Like I said, it grows back.

Edit: I should say, this is pretty much how I started when I was 14, and considering I study physics and not hairdressing, I'd say I have a fairly large and loyal group of people who love to have me do their hair for them.

if you go into like... any salon they should have those huge books full of pictures of hairstyles. You can see what you like and then show your stylist.

Honestly though, your best bet is to talk to your stylist and tell them what you want and ask them what they think will look good. Any stylist that's good enough to cut your hair SHOULD know how to have a proper hair consultation before they start cutting.

Other than that I guess you could read GQ or Details or something looking for ads/editorials you like.

Atreides would let me cut his hair.

Also, in all fairness, most stylists are TERRIBLE outside of the haircuts that 99% of people get. Ask them for anything original / edgy / whatever and you'll end up looking like your mom cut your hair. It's SO BAD.

I swear like in the first few pages of the RL Pic Thread you went off on some kids in my group of friends having bleached their hair Sath, something about you knowing shit about hair styling. Maybe it was your girlfriend in retrospect and she just didn't post at the time or something. Who knows, maybe I'm mixing you up with someone else.

More on topic: Hair is one of the first things people notice about you so it should be something your comfortable with at the very least. Finding a stylist you trust is the hardest part but once you do keeping them around is even harder. I have curly hair and I have trouble styling it, recently I've tried loosening the curls. I've experimented with ponytails, short hair styles, medium length hair styles, and long hair styles, even perms. Just try out different stuff and once you find a stylist you trust, try to get their opinion on what they think you should do and work with that. I feel way more confident about my hair now than I did like 3 or 4 years ago and it's just because I have a regular stylist who I've worked with to develop what I've got going on today.

Bleaching your hair to a lovely shade of orange != doin' it right. It was probably me since that's a HUGE peeve of mine. Yellow is not blonde. Orange is not blonde. If you bleach your hair and you stop at anything with a reddish tone in it, you've failed and are now a ginger by-product.

tl;dr: man up and bleach it until it looks good!

40 volume bleach is your friend.

I have the same hair problems; i can't find a style I like... On top of that, I have the most pain-in-the-ass cowlick at the tip of my hair on my forehead and none of the beauticians in the area can cut around properly.

I'm hesitant to post suggestions because I don't know face structure / style / preference / etc but googling around led me to this one, which I am very partial to.

for guys with short hair, how you style it (and by extension what products you use) seems to make a much bigger difference than how you have it cut

speaking of products, I am in love with this stuff. Almost all the hold of a gel, with the texture of a wax, and leaves behind almost no residue:

it smells slightly fruity until it dries but it's pretty awesome

Very true. I use this primarily when I have short hair http://www.amazon.com/FX-Pomade-Mold.../dp/B000GCWNPW which is like $6 a tub at CVS. It works WAY better than most more expensive products as long as you're going to be in a low-intensity environment. Repeated fucking with of the hair once it has dried can give it a flaky appearance, but you have to really try.

If you want no flaking ever, best hold in the world (I'm talking shit I would use to put up my 12+ inch spikes / mohawk as a solid base before the glue) on top of a smell that girls LOVE (seriously, I used this way more when I was younger and it was a common theme) go with http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CDkQ8wIwAg# $20~ a tub at more upscale Aveda salons. Worth every penny if your hair is longer.
