Last-minute "WTF Do I get this person for Christmas" thread

I can't be the only person stumped here.

Girlfriend and I have been dating for two months and I have no fucking idea what to get her for Christmas. Her 21st birthday is the 26th, so I'm going to get her some flavored vodka (she likes that crap) for that, but that still leaves Christmas up in the air. She likes movies and stuff, her music tastes are boring but I've been trying to show her new stuff and she's liked what I've shown her. I was thinking of getting her a movie and a CD and a book, but I don't know if that's lame or what, and I can't choose a CD or book easily.

And then there's my dad, who's a new father of a 1-year old, he's a genius, an asshole, and doesn't have time to do normal things.

Just trying to avoid gift cards. Also it doesn't help that I can't get Amazon.com to fucking load.

sort of a gift card, but seems to usually work with people idk what to get for, and that's a subscription to netflix. Only downside is once you give them they usually keep it so you can't get it for them next year. XD

Dunno if your g/f has it but there's that. If she likes to read too you can get her an ereader.

Get her some amazingly overpriced box-set of a movie she really likes. No bling bling at this point, too soon. As for your dad. If he uses his hands. Some form of powertool is always nice. A GPS might be nice for him.

Depends how much you have to dump, but as far as the g/f, see if it's something you can turn into an actual date, chix dig it, etc. I got mine tickets for Wicked since I know she wants to go to it badly, but I know the fact that it's a night out will earn me infinitely more points than the fact that it's a thing she actually wants, if I just did a standard date night that would have been just as sufficient.

Don't even know my dad so no help there from me either lol

I'd second Netflix subscriptions maybe, streaming only plan is like $7.99/mo. and you can get gift subscriptions. That'll also get you printable cards/etc and you could be done shopping in 5 minutes.

Unless of course they already have Netflix, or fear technology.

dads are so much harder to shop for than moms it's ridiculous. You younglings better remember that when your kids start getting older. I usually end up breaking down and getting something big that's more mom-sided and give it to both of them (did that this year with one of those really nice digital photo frames and loaded all my wedding pics in it).

Yea jersey/ballcap/other sports wear is a nice "out" if you're really stuck. Got my dad a Hamilton Tigercats hat last year for xmas, this year for my birthday he took me to a tigercats game, it was awesome.

I decided to be lame and lazy and just bought two 6 game packages to the Phillies. This way my mom and dad can go, my brother and his gf, sister and her bf, or mix and match. Covers all the bases for me anyways.

I'm lucky in that my dad is easy to shop for. Raiders gear, Rocky & Bullwinkle (or any other 60's cartoon box set like Jetsons, Flintstones, etc) or even video games (bastard just bought an xbox and a kinect). I know you hate gift cards, but ITunes gift cards are awesome. Snagged 2 $50 gift cards for $35 each in a pre black friday sale. If you have a costco near you, they have a bunch of alcohol gift sets that are awesome.
