Video capture output question

Greetings,

So I'm going to be recording some gameplay video that I'd like to upload to a blog or youtube or something. I am using Fraps to record and VirtualDub to compress my video.

Question is: should I be recording at "full screen" from fraps, to help keep up the quality, or is "half screen" fine? I imagine a lot of people just watch internet video in the presented windowed format, rather than at 'full screen'. Basically, I want a quality video but it doesnt have to be hardcore 1080p or anything. 720 is probaby fine.

Always record at the highest quality youre able to, then worry about compression and loss afterwards.
If you dont really care too much about the quality, just record a few times for a few seconds on different settings and see what results you like.

Also try looking at Camstudio. No need for Virtualdub if you use that.
