So I have a friend trying to talk me into doing a jump with him but I don't really know much about it other than what the average joe does.
Any BG experiences on the topic?

I began the basic training to get my skydiving license about 10 years ago but ran out of money. They had us do jumps from 3000 feet by ourselves and pulled our pilot chute (what opens your parachute) when we jumped out of the plane. Got maybe 2-3 seconds of free fall before chute deployed.
If you're expecting a super long free fall it will probably have to be strapped to a licensed sky diver. It's a rush plus you get a great view. Stepping off a plane into the air is exhilarating.
DO IT lol
Rush is like nothing else. When I have time and money Im going to do the jumps needed to do it myself.
I only tried paragliding, which is basically jumping off a high mountain with a parachute and having the wind pick you up. It was definitely worth the experience.
Tandem skydiving is where you're strapped to the instructor, AFF (Accelerated Free-Fall) is a 6~ hour class following which you jump out into freefall where you are held stable by 2 instructors, one on either side and then you pull your ripcord and do your descent solo. It's a real blast, well worth doing either way.
It's FUN AS HELL YOU SHOULD TRY IT.
I did tandem last year at a boogie, and next Saturday I'll be starting static line courses. It's an amazing rush!
Static line, your chute will open automatically and you get guided down to the ground via radio by the instructors.
DO IT DO IT DO IT
You should try asking Thestalkmore, he's done over 100 jumps
Also, when I did my tandem jump I paid the bit extra to get a video of it. The video was via a 3rd cameraman jumping with me and the tandem guy. Was awesome.
Don't have it uploaded anywhere but facebook... if you're interested msg me. You get to see the tandem jump from a 3rd person perspective.
Lol.. I was searching for the old threads too and couldn't find them. Funny thing is, I was bored today and decided to just go do it. It's crazy and a blast, go for it. Even if you don't get hooked into it, it's still fun to do at least once.
As a side note, the instructors saw me pull up on my motorcycle and said "you're crazy". I just looked at them and was like "you jump out of airplanes for a living" to let them know the feeling was mutual.
silly double post..
Ive been wanting to do this for years, just didnt have the money
How much is a run on average?
Thanks for all the posts so far.
Talking to my friend, he says it's $200 and about $75-85 for video. Sound normal?
that sounds normal. some places have group discounts so you should inquire about it. around here they have it for like 170 if you have a group discount and bring like 4 people?
When I went to Australia I did a jump there, my first of 4. The first time is exhilarating, and a huge rush, sort of something you are scared to do, like a tattoo, but once you do it you want more. First time was the worst because I was forced to be strapped to a dirty aussie who smelt of vegemite and forced my head back every time I went to take a glimpse of anything below me. 100% recommend it, well worth the money and time though.
I'm jumping on Monday, my first time, I'll let you know after! Cost me 140 but there was a discount. Going with a couple friends and we are all pretty excited for it.
I am far to much of a pussy to do this...but from everyone that I know that has done it say that it's probably one of the best feelings in the world.
It has been like 10 years but my memory of it was "meh." Maybe it's the fact that there's nothing around you to give you perspective of how fast you are falling. Just seemed to me like I was floating above ground for a bit until it was time to land. I get more of a rush from a roller coaster cuz of all the forces in different directions. Skydiving is just a gentle drop in one direction.
It was cool and all just to say that I did it but it never made a big enough impression to me to try it again.
