BG Fashion: Where do you buy your clothes - and why?

I'm not much at clothes shopping honestly. I go in every few months, grab some new jeans, sneakers, t-shirts, khakis... a shirt and tie if needed... but I typically try to get the hell out of the store/mall as fast as I can.

For day-to-day/social stuff, I typically go to American Eagle - and I'm usually not thrilled with their selection anyway... I haven't found shit in GAP since like 2001, either I outgrew their clothes or they just went to absolute shit.

For shitty work khakis, I've been buying them at Target on the cheap... but the fuckers start to fall apart after wearing them a few times. Someone suggested Dickies as being pretty durable for work related purposes.

Basically - I do a lot of outdoorsy stuff - and have a pretty simple taste in clothes (t-shirt, jeans, some polos, some button-downs, etc) - and I really don't like spending $80 or some shit on a shirt... so I'm looking for a nice balance between quality and cost.

Also looking for suggestions on stores to buy t-shirts... I can never find a damn t-shirt I like these days... and if I find a graphic I like, the quality is absolute shit.

A lot of the production (welders/fabricators) guys I work with really like either Dickies or Carhartt for work clothes that can stand up to some abuse. I'm in the office side of the business and typically just rock Levi jeans and cheap polo type shirts that I found at JC Penny. I think the shirt brand is St. Johns if I recall.

For casual wear, I'm a PacSun/"that type of cloths" faggot I wear the shit out of cloths though. I go shopping maybe every other year? And even, I still wear a shirt that I had in 7th grade (gdi I haven't grown in so long). I also take pretty good care of stuff, though.

All my formal wear is custom made 8) I find myself wearing that a lot more often nowadays, which I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad about. Shit is ultra-comfortable, though.

Also, in before wop and his scarfs

I usually visit the H&M whenever I'm in Vancouver (or a city that has one). Other than that I'm partial to Jack & Jones (http://www.jackjones.com/) and Club Monaco for nicer stuff.

Ugh, the Men's Warehouse near me is horrendous. The instant I walk in, I'm ambushed and then stalked by some pushy salesman who's waiting for me to pick something up so he can claim commission or some shit on it.... I never found the clothing to be anything special either...

I buy most of my casual stuff (Polo's, shorts, socks, boxers) at Brooks Brothers. I get shirts (work shirts) from Thomas Pink and Brooks Brothers. Shoes are Allen-Edmunds. Suits are from a few different places.

I tried the Men's Warehouse here in Manhattan for a few loose ends on my way out to the airport one afternoon and found it about the same as Francisco. Pushy salesman and a pretty ragged selection.

I shop mostly at Macy's and outlets now. I hate buying tshirts from most places cause they end up shrinking or something now matter how I wash/dry them, so I started buying less clothes from better brands. Mostly RL/Tommy/etc. I love levi strauss jeans.

    In before "Hermes."

Random boutiques for jeans, occasionally Levi's.
American Apparel for fuckin' comfy blank tees and hoodies (I sometimes do my own screenprinting if need be)
Banana Republic is usually my go-to for more formal dinner/interview stuff.
Other than that, I usually support local and independent artists/designers through their websites and small boutiques.

Target, Layne Bryant because it's hard to find nice shirts that fit over my big tatas, Forever 21 and other various online stores.

Marshall's for pants. Woot for shirts. Kohl's for belts (pants are nice too)

    Because I'm poor.

Banana Republic, Filene's Basement, Men's Wearhouse, sometimes American Eagle for casual wear when I'm at the mall.

Edit: you asked why. Banana shirts and slacks just fit me best, and I usually like their selection for ties. The Filene's on Connecticut here in DC has a great men's selection, but some others mostly just have women's stuff so it's kind of hit and miss. They have good deals on ties, belts, shoes, etc. Men's Wearhouse is my spot for suits, got a couple good ones this summer because I went to three weddings in three weeks. American Eagle seems like the last bastion of casual men's wear that isn't too douchey.

Also, dry clean your shirts, it costs like a dollar each and makes them look much better.

Yo Men's Wearehouse looks cheap as heck... and this is from someone who usually doesn't give a crap about his garments.

I'm like Zealot, Brooks Brothers and Pink for shirts. Ermenegildo Zegna for suits, Ferragamo and Hermes for ties and shoes, Tod's and Cole Haan as well for shoes. I don't really do casual, but I like Lacoste polos and almost everything at J.Crew and Burberry. it's important to look your best at all times, I'm glad fall is coming so I can break out the cashmere.

Kinda, was more about what brands people wear and less practical advice.

Solanis, do you know where to go shopping in DC? Or anyone with some sense of style/taste. I want things I can't get at home mainly.

Abercrombie and Fitch mostly because all their t-shirts and sweatshirts are muscle fit. It's a more comfy fit for me and I like the materials.

Really? Abercrombie and Fitch? That seems so out of character for you.
