    eBay Etiquette?

I won an auction for a new copy of Final Fantasy VII for 17 bones + 4 shipping and handling. So today the seller sends me this message.

Hello and thank you for your interest in this item, Very regrettably, family issues have come up and I am inhibited from sending out eBay items. I am so sorry for this inconvenience. I will be sending a refund and cancel order request. I would like to give you reduced shipping if you choose to buy from me in the future. If you have any questions I will be available to discuss them. Thank you so much for your patients and understanding in this matter.
The guy literally has over 4 dozen auctions going on right now. Additionally he has a copy of FFVII up as a Buy It Now auction for 49.99. Should I hit this guy with negative feedback or give him a pass? It honestly just seems like he was unhappy with how much he got from me and he thinks he can get more. Thoughts?

negative feedback, regardless of why you think he did it.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

I'd report the situation to ebay tbh. If he has other auctions going, then ya he probably didn't want to do it at that low price, especially considering people are selling new ones on amazon for like $200.

Ok, I was pretty sure I was going to give him a negative feedback. But this just cinches it. On top of that the guy has yet to refund my money.

Negative feedback. He clearly didn't like the price that he sold it for and is trying to get more.

Wait 2 days for the refund before hitting with the negative feedback.

    He sent this back afterwards.

If you are willing to accept a refund from me I do not understand why you would need to leave negative feedback. I was unable to retract the auction when the auction had 10 hrs left. If you would be willing to wait a week I could send the item then. It should still get there in the time alotted. please understand my situation and that negative feedback is very crippling to my business. I am motivated can work this out if you are willing.

ps. The game was double listed accidently and has been taken off.
I'm not even responding to this guy anymore.

He's clearly trying to weasel his way out of the sale because he didn't get the price he wanted. You did the right thing by reporting him and leaving negative feedback.

He is lying out of his ass about his 'family situation' and about shipping it out to you a week later but you should have waited for your money back before negging him :D

    He just keeps on going.

I realize that my personal life is not your concern. I am telling you that I will still fulfill the auction if you retract the negative feedback. I feel like I am giving you every option, which warrants a withdrawal of negative feedback.
    My response.

Look, you listed the auction. You then messaged me stating you were unable to send out any items at all. Looking through your auctions, you have dozens of them currently going. You flat out stated you would fulfill the auction if I retracted the negative feedback. On the auction I had already won. That is essentially bribery. Which I'm sure eBay would frown upon. Please stop sending me messages or I will be reporting you.

Withdraw the negative feed back, get the item, return negative feed back.

Yeah that's what you call Seller's remorse. Once I sold something on ebay, I didn't take into account how much shipping was so I Just put $5 shipping, the item sold for $3 and it costed me $10 to ship it. I gave away the item but I still shipped it. Unless it's something wrong with the item that got lost/stolen/damaged in some way he has no excuse to back out of it. He should have canceled the auction before it ended. Leave negative feedback and If he doesn't return your money in 14 days use paypal for a money claim.

I have 40 feedbacks on ebay with both buying and selling experience and if he's a seller like me who just sells junk because I don't like garage sales, he probably only has 1-2 of those items and just plain didn't like what it sold for.

EDIT: Also, keep the negative feedback. He's only sending the item because you slapped him with the negative feedback, he obviously didn't realize that was going to happen. Also once you retract a feedback (not positive on this one) you can't leave another feedback on there.

Isn't the reason why you are forced to buy something you bid on is because you are entering into a contractual agreement as soon as you bid on the item and the auction ends? That's what they say to the buyers I'm sure it would apply to the sellers as well as contracts are a two-way street. Unless e-bay has some shitty policy I don't see how he isn't legally obligated to send you the item.

Sellers have the right to retract the item due to either lost/stolen/etc. However once the auction ends the buyer AND seller first have to come to a mutual agreement to drop th auction. In this case the buyer tried to use a valid excuse to resel the item. Obviously the OP saw through this plan and has every right to leave negative feedback. Now hether or not the seller wants to give his money back or send the item is up to him. There are many ways people can go about this but in the end it all ends up as feedback ad it is up to the customer to tell how their experience went wit the buyer.

    From my phone, typos inc.

I thought you couldn't leave negative feedback these days, but it's been quite a while since I last used ebay.
