My dear jerks,

In the interest of maintaining the fiction that the administrative powers-that-be give anything resembling a shit regarding your BG experience, we are presenting this thread in order to solicit ‘feedback’, as the younger generation calls it. This ‘feedback’ allows you to fill the void that is your emotional life with a feeling that is akin to validation, but actually isn’t because this is the fucking internet and go the fuck outside, but more importantly gives us a sense of what you slavering jerks want, so later we can parcel it out to you and get praised for doing things what you wrote down.

We love praise. And fear. Really, we just love fear. But praise is nice too.


What we, in our infinite mercy, would like from you:

Ideas for new forum features: For example, we have a pretty new chat feature. What other sorts of things would you be interested it in that vein?
Ideas to expand/change existing forum features: E.g., is there anything you’d like BG chat to do that it doesn’t do now?
Things you’d like removed: Are there features that you find redundant or dislike? If there are, let us know how you’d prefer them, rather than just saying “I don’t like [x]”. Use your words.

Your input on features and adjustments to the forums will (honestly*) be greatly appreciated. Don’t use this thread to shit on others’ suggestions, or as a place to finally get to use GD to post your modsarejerks.txt manifesto that you’ve been adding to for six years in a state of quivering, impotent rage. We’re looking for your assessment and opinions on how you use the forums.

Thoughtful contributions that lead to implementation might have rewards as well! Stupid rewards, like custom titles or vague pats on the head, but you love that shit.

I think it would be helpful to have some indication on an infracted post that there has been an infraction that everyone can see. The time-out avatar shows that someone has broken a rule, but not which post and how. If infracting someone left text that said “USER WAS INFRACTED FOR THIS POST” or somesuch, I think there’d be less confusion, as well as provide a bit of a learn-by-the-stupid-of-others.

In addition to this, if that big USER WAS HOSED FOR BEING A DUMBBUTT linked to the actual infraction text (which currently is posted in the user’s profile page), I think a lot of questions would be resolved before there were issues.

2. Account settings adjustment - I primarily browse the site from work. I also post in Spam. So I keep all images, avatars, and sigs hidden. Is there a way to set up a work browsing setting and a home browsing setting? It's kind of ticky tacky but it would save people like me the time of having to go into acct settings and click the boxes to view images again if there was a little check box at the top of the page or something.

3. BG Chat auto login as soon as you log into the site. If you choose to bring up chat is another thing entirely though.

Is amending rules a valid suggestion for this thread? If so, i suggest amending rule XI about racial slurs and derogatory language to only apply when such words are specifically directed at another poster and they are done so with the obvious intent to harass. People who use racial slurs or derogatory language that is not directed at anyone in particular, especially if they're referring to its use by someone else, shouldn't be getting infractions. I realize people getting infractions for that is rare, but it always helps the reputation of a forum when it has specific rules rather than ambiguous ones.

I suppose what I'm asking is what would separating sports from GD do for sports threads that they don't have now, and what do sports threads do in GD that would be better served in a separate forum?

Honestly it would be just for ease of access. We're all lazy. Scrolling is hard work. It's much more convenient for all the sports threads to be in one sub forum. The problem is that you remove the sports threads from GD and GD's activity will probably plummet a good amount.
