IGN's started off the way I expected, and went exactly in the direction I was hoping.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of it.
Perfect. I am so happy they are basically ignoring the server issues. I was worried they would end up reviewing the servers and not the game.

There's Massively's impressions. They seem to keep updating it.
Added! Thank you.
Oh and Eliot's doing the review...? That's probably gonna be an instant 8-9 from him. Dude's been playing since 1.0.
Yeah, he's pretty even-handed and open-minded about SE. He kinda gets drowned out by most of the other posters on Massively but he seems like good people to me.
Lol, Forbes cover games? Never knew that
I am glad to see that while all the reviews mention the shitfest of the server issues, their comments on the actually game are overall positive.
Didn't see another relevant thread, but after listening to "The Content Patch" this morning it seems (in the words of TotalBiscuit mind you) that "many" YouTubers and other content reviewers are scrapping all First Impressions, Review, and Let's Play videos due to yet another silly set of streaming based restrictions:

TLDR:
Spoiler: show

Not really a review...but this is probably the best place for it.
First complete review. Should see more tomorrow.

Then again, this site also gives scores higher than everyone else.
I agree completely with IGN. I am enjoying ARR a lot... but as I sit at my computer and burn through quests....There is no sense of accomplishment for how convenient everything is.
But I figured it was going to be "easy" at launch because that won't turn away new players thinking that they have a huge disadvantage compared to people who have all jobs capped.
I expect Yoshi to come out with a challenging expansion.
Very comparable to offline FF difficulty at low levels tbh. Dunno why its always such an issue in mmos. Obviously endgame will challenge you unlike anything ever seen in an ff game.
I disagree somewhat. I think the accomplishment is that I can sit down for an hour or two and get two levels done or complete something I've set aside for a while. Yesterday evening I was able to get ~50k exp in 20-30mins doing FATEs in Quarrymill and then later on I was able to run Toto Rak with my LS mates and finish up a 5-6 quests at Little Solace. All in all I got almost two levels. I'm 10k short of 27, started the evening at 10k into 25. Did all that in a span of 2 hours.
Maybe the satisfaction of getting that level isn't there from other grindy/XI type MMOs, but I don't mind that. My accomplishments will come from what I view as actual milestones; SMN/SCH quests, Titan, Garuda, first-time dungeon runs, etc.
That's more just fast progress that everybody is accomplishing. I see your point of view though. It is just way more convenient than what I am used too in any game. I still enjoy it though- and have so much to get done.
In XI, hitting level 75 was a marathon, so finally getting there was a great feeling. However, I am definitely happy that is not the case anymore, even if some nostalgia is there. I would never be able to get to endgame this year.
So all in all, I am on your side for getting more done in less time... But I wouldn't call it an accomplishment. This topic makes me feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.
