Any of y'all niggas bowl? I've been doing so in leagues for about a year now, and I can think of one other person I know on BG that also does. So, where y'all niggas at?

if i ever make it back to VA, i'm punching you in the gut
I've been a few times with my lady and kids. I usually bowl around a 180 or so. I love the alleys that show the speed of the ball. Usually by the end of the night it's not about the score but who throws the ball faster =)
Other than that I'm a terrible bowler
Oh, and all the bowling alleys in Denver have terrible food. Really awful. Gross even
Bowled in a league mid grade school for awhile, stopped, then picked it back up with the highschool team.
I was never properly taught so I threw it straight down the lane, never had my own ball either, just used whatever the place had, but regardless, my avg went from 160 to 220 during my "career".
Since HS i'm lucky if I bowl once a year, I think last time I went I barely broke 100.
I tried teaching myself to curve it, but i'm very hit or miss with it.
I also used to golf, but I was only good at driving and putting, anything in between ruined what gains I had.
i bowl only occasionally. infrequently enough that for quite a while, i didn't know about the whole don't-bowl-while-someone-else-is-bowling-next-to-you thing. got a few dirty looks before someone finally had the balls to explain what i did wrong.
Loved it as a teen. Took a class in college as a throwaway credit for kicks and actually learned a few things, but I've been out of practice now for a while. Still, I enjoy getting out and hitting the lanes every couple months or so.
Candlepin or gtfo
i bowl probably 3 times a week. Own my own shit, but still learning. I have a hook, and i used to throw a wide, sweeping curve but that's highly inconsistent so I've been working on getting a more streamlined approach. I hook with 2 fingers, and a guy on my team is trying to get me to switch to 3, but i remember how long it took me to get consistent with 2 fingers, god knows how long it'll be to get decent with 3. I bowl a ~185 on average, high game 284. for those that own their own balls, what brand/model?
I would do anything to bowl again..but with carpal tunnel surgery in my right hand and therapy ongoing now they said it could be a year or more until I have the strength to do so. I grew up in a bowling alley watching my dad since about age 4 and started about that age myself as well. None of this fancy bumper shit and rolling the ball through my legs. I had tons of gutter balls and learned the real way which I think contributed to how well I took to it.
I bowled seriously from about age 5-12 - winning several local tournaments in my age bracket one of which I was the only female and youngest so that was awesome. When my parents moved I lost all my coaching contacts and the leagues on the other side of the state were a joke at best..so I stopped. My average when I stopped was about 220ish and my highest game ever was a 280 during a tournament when I was 12.
About 7 months ago when I bowled last I was lucky to break 120..ugh.
I love bowling and could watch it for days.
Fuck now I want to bowl again. Fuck you carpal tunnel syndrome shit.
could you granny bowl? use both hands and roll between your legs instead of putting all the weight on one hand? prolly not be as fun, but at least you'd be there hanging out with the scene around you.
I used to do leagues when I was a teen, and I still enjoy it, but none of my friends are really all that in to it. I still have my own ball and shoes, and i do get to go occasionally, I just can't go alone, it goes too fast.
I used to. Both of my parents were really into it, eventually my mom gave it up and my dad kept going. My dad would always do really well in the local Pro-Am tournaments (he was on TV once) and he has bowled a couple 300 games. I think he still does bowl, but I haven't asked him about it in quite a while.
I really got into bowling when I was in the Army, that was one of the only things to do on RSA while I was there. I wasn't great, never averaged higher than 130ish, but I had such a blast I didn't even care. I actually kind of want to go bowling for fun now, thanks for giving me weekend plans Abandon.
Me and my friends used to go bowling a few times a month back in high school but never anything serious, just something to do in a nowhere town. The college I attended required everyone to take basically a P.E course and bowling was offered. Wasn't anything special, the professor was one of the women's basketball coaches but she actually knew her shit somewhat. The first week she took our scores and developed a benchmark for us to improve on throughout the semester, for an A we had to bowl 20 points higher than our average, B was 10 points etc. I think after three weeks I went from bowling constant 120s to around 180s and my highest in the class was 242. Still go from time to time but nothing really competitive. There is a guy on our intramural basketball team that bowls all the time, pretty sure he just competed in Vegas this past week.
I used to bowl a lot in leagues when I lived on Camp Pendleton. Now that I moved here to lolTexas, not so much. Although, I started bowling again recently... thinking about joining a Tuesday/Wednesday night league here at the Brunswick by my house.
I go every once in a while. Was never really my thing but I get free games at this one alley because my bosses wife is GM of the joint.
Yeah..no. Even if I could , I wouldn't. Basically I am on Workman's comp for dual carpal tunnel surgeries and still only halfway through therapy on my main(right) hand and the left has severe weakness anyway before surgery.
I'm not against others enjoying to bowl or do it that way but for me it's a no go. I learned the right way at a young age and likely will have to actually relearn how due to the change in strength my hand will have, Hell my natural hook I have now may even change or go away but I do look forward to that day again.
If others were bowling I would go just to hang out for sure because there is always beer![]()
