Should I be running windower?

Is the official windowed FFXI even up yet? I didn't read anywhere it was.

I don't use windower, but I doubt they're going to ban people for it even with windowed mode imminent. Perhaps they're gearing up for when they do release a version of FFXI with support for windowed mode. This way they can detect who is using windower and then take whatever action they deem necessary. I doubt they'll tolerate windower once they have native support for running in a window.

Pretty sure WOW Got owned by courts for trying to read people's processes as a method for banning cheaters..long time ago don't recall exactly but I don't see how they can get away with looking @ Your processes legally....thats a severe prviacy violation

If they modify the EULA then they most certainly can scan your processes legally. Pretty easy stipulation to add: you want to play FFXI, then you will allow us to monitor what you're running. Personally I think it's a good thing. The only people who need to be concerned about it are those who are running hacks. As long as no information is sent to SE on what you're running, then who the hell cares?

This most likely got nothing to do with it but i was updating for 2hrs got to 31%. Then i hit cancel an log on w/o windows an it went from 1 to 45% in less then 5mins.

I told myself I wouldnt use it for a few day to see what happen. 30sec in, I notice none of my blm macro work. 2 minutes after, game crash when i go check aim.


If they want to ban me for it, I will be glad to leave the game.

Warden, the process monitoring package that you're referring to, still exists in WoW today. There has been controversy surrounding it, but as far as I know, all legal rulings have indicated that it is legal.

The really funny thing is if you start WoW while you have windower-ed ffxi running, apparently warden kills it lol.

Somehow I doubt they'd mass ban people using Windower...since that'd mean a huge chunk of legit players. Possibly if they are scanning for it, they're just getting an idea of usage to justify creating their own.

Ok, if they ban me right now, cool. I wouldn't play this game otherwise. If they announced they will release their own windower in the future, then ban all the people that wanted it in the first place, it would be kinda worthless.

Is it really checking our processes and uploading any data about it?
Just want reassurance as I'm sure many of us do not want to get banned.

Easy solution is to not just use windower but I'm curious

I use launcher to launch my windower and it doesnt launch pol anymore. I have pol on my processes but its not loading up..
