    Flawless Ribbon

    Hello Friends

My BST is almost L68 and I have been saving ancient coins to buy this item when I reach L75, it costs 150 ancient coins when both my Brutal Earring and Boxer's Mantle were 75 coins each (which im totally pleased with). I hit the search button trying to find information that would help me make a decision but all the info that I found was basic and not one person who has it posted in depth info on it.

If anyone that has the Flawless Ribbon would care to respond I would greatly appreciate it, I have 89 ancient coins so far and wanted to know if it was worth 150 coins to buy.

The "enhance killer effect" is extremely strong, and seems significantly stronger than other items that give the ability (tatami shield etc).

any time i'm fighting someone in ballista who has it equipped, i need to remove crimson, or whatever i'm wearing.

not sure if this ribbon's worth spending 150 ABC's for. in fact, I don't know if any one of the 150 ABC items are worth it. Maybe only the jaeger mantle and flawless ribbon are worth it to some extent. ex) ra acc+20 for high evasion mobs. This is just my opinion though.

If you are doing BST correctly you should rarely have the monster focused on you. So it's kinda not worth it.

San's 1 minute Kirins, it might have been useful to kite with. But nothing is kitable (at least by a BST) anymore.

I just don't see 150 coins worth a few extra intimidations.

(Give em to a BRD for thier musical earing, and pray the invite you to a meritpo party lol)

IMO that ribbon is only worth it for PLD and NIN - if you have everything else in the game already and just want it to mess around with. Could work well but only with certain builds on certain mobs; like a lot of newish gear, it's extremely situational.
So unless you rich or don't actually want/need to buy anything I would say just sell them. 150 coins on any server is going to get you at least a modest sum of money that you could probably put to better use than the Ribbon.

yeah good point, but even when taking that into account it seemed significantly stronger than other "killer" items in ballista (tatami shield wont fuck me up as much). all on the same scale.

The Ribbon just gives you the stats that you see - but those stats are sorta Unique for that slot

    30 light - Nothing Else
    30 drk - Nothing Else
    Killer Effects - Nothing Else
All Resists Up - Gallan Ribbon only

Its a great Ballista toy really Protecting from Lulaby as well as BLM Sleep

Can't remember who but someone has full killer merits, Tatami, AF pants and flawless ribbon already. They say it isn't very useful or noticable enhancement. I can't really think of much use for it as a BST though, not enough to justify 150 ABCs.

I own a Flawless Ribbon. (75 BST here).

The Killer Effect is very very meh. I think it's just a +1 to all Killer effects. When I equip it I rarely intimidate mobs (I've equipped it as 75 BLU). It's not at all close to the inherent traits that BST gets.

The main reason you want to buy this ribbon is the status resist rate. I've noticed about a 33% to 50% resist rate on that Silencing Tantara from the Caedaerva Mire imps when soloing them. Not bad for saving a few gil here and there (but definately not worth the purchase price of 150 ABC).

And, yes, I do have full +Killer Effect merits, Tatami, AF+1 pants and the Flawless Ribbon. And I am intimidating a heck of a lot on BST. But the ribbon by itself isn't a major factor.

Edit: I think I'll try running a few tests tonight to verify that it's only a 1% intimidate rate. And the reason that any +Killer Effect merits are good on BST is because yes, you don't want to pull aggro. But if you pull aggro you have a chance of not getting hit (intimidation "rounds" do cause enmity loss, which is great)

If the status resist rate is 33-50% on all status ailments, it might not be too bad.

I'm interested in the resist status ailments as well, is it really 33-50%? That's very nice for when fighting certain mobs or when in Ballista.

Just a somewhat quick and related question that I didn't want to make a new topic for, but concerning BST, the LV75 af2 piece, is the enhancement to Call Beast pretty sex?

iirc it was figured to be about the same as 1 merit, which, again, iirc, is 2 levels.

    That's a buncha commas.

getting hit, or getting a shadow hit, causes enmity loss too

tanks want to intimidate mobs so they don't lose hp or shadows... the fact that it has enmity loss just happens to benefit bst (and keep killer effects from being too powerful for tanks)

Hmm.. Did a lil' more testing (just got the thing this past weekend) and it seems the "Resist all status effects" is more like 20-40%. Still nothing to rely on, but it does kick in fairly often. I wonder if you added a few levels of "Magic Defense Bonus" equipment, if that would help the resist rate. And/or the light/dark elemental resistance is helping in some way. (main test is the imps' silence move in caederva mire).

My main complaint is that it uses up the Head slot, where I could be using my Homam head, Turban, O-hat, or any number of other "good" pieces of equipment that will directly increase my damage output.

Traditionally ribbons are badass equip in FF games. This seems to be no different, as -20% to -40% resist against all status effects is damn awesome. As much as you don't want it to be head equip, ribbons have been traditionally just that. Well it could be an accessory of some sorts. Where else would you put a ribbon? This would be for tanks or someone who solos alot of mobs that do status effects. DD shouldn't be wearing this anyway. Someone else said it effected intimidation and another said resists lol. It would be just overpowered if it was both.

btw the ribbon in FF12 resists all status effects also
