Another nVidia 6600 GT question

I recently switched over from an ATI 9600 XT to an nVidia 6600 GT, now, Bard songs such as Ballad and Minuet rape the crap out of my FPS. Is there some kind of setting I can choose to make this not happen anymore Q_Q?

the nVidia 6600 GT is better in every aspect than the ATI 9600 XT, which is why this is baffling me!

did u check if you have the correct driver installed?

btw...do u see artifacts? like u see weird colors etc.. if that is the case it might have been your power supply not being able to support the power required by the card.

Newest drivers, and no artifacting, just lag during bard spells.

this happens to me too, but i've just been too lazy to look for a fix.

i'm assuming it's cause the newest drivers don't wanna be compatible, so maybe you should try a previous driver. also, windower forums are pretty good with this stuff so may wanna check there as well.

it really bugs the crap out of me too cause i basically put my vid card into a brand new and much faster computer, and the performance went from good to mediocre.

If you want to get rid of the effects(guessing that's what you meant about settings), go to your config in game, go to effects, and the very first selection should be something like, "all Effects". Switch it to on, and hopefully, that'll keep the rapeage at bay until you figure out what's really wrong.

yes, that would stop the lag, but why would i turn the effects off anyways. I like effects. My ATI 9600 XT, a lesser card, did not have this problem, and this one does. I'd rather look for a fix than a compromise. If I have to compromise, i'll just put the fucking 9600 XT in at 112 degrees C. and just wait for it to melt.

older cards suck and iam not saying this cuase there slower then newer cards iam saying this becuase the driver updates slow down and dont get priority over the newer cards

iam running on a bfg 7950 gt oc on my vista comp and i can tell just by how there updating cards for vista how they think the 8800 got the top priority standalone drivers ment for it everything eles has mostly combind driver packs

and yes i know iam not taking my own advive but when i was comp shoping it was chioce between this and 8800 had the extra cash wouldent have been a big deal but 8800 had probs with FFXI then and some ppl still do

but for anyone looking to upgrade for a FFXI comp i would sugest 7950 its worked out very well its 350 normaly but u can get it for 300 or less

just go to best buy and bring with an advertisement for anouther version of 7950 thats cheaper from somewhere eles and cuase its still 7950 they will give you discounted price^^

i did it got it for 300 what i brought they box looked nothing like mine whole name was diff but it sed 7950 so they gave me the discount =)

If you had read any of my previous posts, you'd know this was another video card I just happened to have. If my ATI 9600 XT ran FFXI perfectly fine, 30fps constantly, why in gods name would I go out and buy a 7950, or ANY new video card for that matter.

The point of this thread was to figure out why a superior video card would be giving inferior results, Not for you to tell me I should be running a Quad core 4gb RAM SLI video card combo.

Anyways, I got some help from someone on IRC last night, and got some drivers from last year for it. They SEEM to be working good, but I haven't been in any GPU stressful situations yet. Hopefully this works!

Yea, I had heard this as well, but if I can't play with windower, I'm not fucking playing lol. So I'd rather just fix this problem Q_Q.

I don't think they've helped my lag issue, so you're not missing out. I finally got a chance to check them in a high stress situation last night, and ballad still lagged the fuck out of me Q_Q. I REALLY wish I knew exactly how this was happening, I'd try to figure out some kind of ghetto fix for it.

I have the same problem with songs and ninjutsu spells on my Geforce GO 7900 GS, sprung up when I increased my resolution from 1024X768 to 1900X1250.

man i saw that Q_Q, It sucks cause in order to test them, i need to like, be in dynamis or something and have bards start singing. It dosen't lag if its just one bard singing to one person Q_Q
