Maat Fight - BLM

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had some advice for me, I'm about to fight Maat.

This is the gear I have:

Head: AF
Body: AF (Alternate: Black Robe)
Neck: Uggy Pendant
Earring: Cunning Earring
Earring: Moldavite Earring
Gloves: AF
Ring: Int+2
Ring: Int+3
Back: Black Cloak
Waist: Mrc. Cpt. Belt
Legs: AF
Feet: AF
Range: Morion Tathlum
Main: All NQ Staves, Solid Wand

I have about 100k to my name, so food/items (Blink Band?)/gear that's affordable would be helpful. Also general strategies would be nice too.

Usually you'd Manafont+Flare > Stun+Sleep > Flood > Stun > AerogaIII? I think, should do it...

I've read similar "Manafont -> AM -> SleepII -> AM -> Stun -> GaIII" just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

IDK, let's pretend it's legit.

Wear more elemental skill gear. Like on your neck and body (for nukes). Macro in the AF body only for sleep. Maybe beat Shiva and get a Ice Ring and fight on Iceday for additional skill.

Resists, panicking, and just random back luck is the only reason you'll lose BLM Maat. He's a pushover, really.

IIRC i used bind after stun to buy a little more time to nuke, but i don't think i needed it. can try it if you want, but bind can be so touchy, i wouldn't rely on it. oh, and blink band is very handy. wish they had those back in my day. when i had to walk to school...in the snow...uphill...both ways...barefoot...*zzzzz* huhwha? damn you kids skateboarding on the sidewalk!

Well, I beat maat as blm for my first job here Is what I did.

AF gear with me
Bought a crimson jelly(back when they first came out, 100kfoodw)
Blind band, stoneskin torque

Went In, popped torque and band. went to the circle, cast Burst If I'm correct. Maat ran, I stunned/ macro'ed ele seal sleep.

Ran to the opposite side farthest away, waited till timer for burst was up (he slept the whole time). cast again, stun, and highest -aga spell you have. took me 2 min to beat him :D hopefulyl this helps you

BLM is probably one of the easiest Maat fights ever (right next to SAM).

Your gear looks about right. I'd stick to Black Cloak over AF Head/Body for the +Elemental to avoid resists.

The order should be as follows:

AM > Manafont (Optional) > ES + Sleep II (so it sticks) > Manafont > AM > Stun > Firaga III

The first AM will be no pressure. Maat does nothing until he is attacked, so you have a clean first shot. For the Sleep portion, you have one of two options:

1.) Blink Band to avoid being hit while Sleeping for interruption purposes
2.) Manafont prior to AM + Sleep II so it's not interrupted

and as evilpaul said, macro in your AF body for Sleep. Be sure to switch back to your Black Cloak afterwards.

The Stun is in case Maat decides to pop Manafont, which gives you a little bit of casting time for your -ga III.

I died when I fought maat lolol

Thunder 4, cast sleep 2, got resisted and thought to myself "wtf I got resisted at 75, what the bullshit"...reraised, Fonted, Thunder4 again, ES sleep2, Blizzard 4, win.

Normally Maat is a joke, but if you get resisted you're probably going to die. Do not start with Manafont though, there's no need. One good strat is to do what everyone here is saying, but pop Bio II sometime after the second nuke if he resists you. At this point, youll die. Reraise, Maat doesn't aggro. Now pop Manafont and finish him off with Flare or something. This method is nearly a garunteed win, as long as you aren't super unlucky.

Thanks all for your help, I beat Maat last night. Nothing went too crazy:

Blink Band + Scroll of RR (with BioII at the ready if he started attacking or even coming too close) + Int potion + Melon Pie+1 were my buffs

Went in, Freeze(540) from max distance

ES+SleepII

Manafont

Flare (82..I start to worry)

Stun

Sleep (Resist)

Maat casts Burst

I cast Freeze (thinking that my Blink Band will take out his AM, or that I can resist and not die)

Freeze hits for 267, Burst is blinked

Stun

SleepII(stick)

FiragaIII (699)

Maat concedes.

Was interesting, I definitely thought after the second resist of AM I was in real trouble, and was debating BioII instead of casting Freeze against his Burst but gambled that he wouldn't beat me by long enough to get of an aga-III. I'm not sure if a burst could've taken me out from 700ish with my 115 Int against his, but it's possible I guess. In the end the Blink band worked, and I won cause of it

Congratuations! Now...if I could only move to your server where BLMs get invites, lol. I've solo'd 35-66 since solo EXP comes easier then BLM PTs...Doing Hpemde in Sea Now...and it's not horrid. If your into Solo Action check it out >.>

I get 0-2 invites in a 6 hour period as BLM seeking (LFP). I don't consider this good.

Invites were *really* bad about 10 levels ago, I mainhealed parties that I built myself usually during the Colibri stage. Once Magnetic Erucas started up (mid 60s) I got invites again. Most people invite BLM as the 2nd healer next to a Rdm/Whm (I backup heal a lot), though occasionally I'll meet the dumb PT leader that invites me into a party of Whm, Brd, Meleex3 for no reason while fighting Imps. Then again, I'm not exactly complaining.
