Ive noticed on Siren that it is really empty on the lower end for xp pts. Areas that use to be swamped a year ago seem to be empty 50% of the time or some solo person with a npc. Is this trend showing up on other servers?

yeah, but no doubt these numbers will kick back up when everyone jumps the bandwagon for dancer and the other new job(s)
Hey whose seeking.... .... 5 Dancers and a pup
Oh christ, I can see the shouts now.
DNC (Burn) (Do you need it?) DNCx5 PUPx1 DISCO INFERNO BISH!
Leveling BRD was so slow because there was hardly anyone seeking or even available to ask until about 65. In the 50's there were times I would seek for 2+ hours on BRD before anything popped on my screen for a XP party.
Generally people solo to 20/25 at least nowadays. Ive actually been lvling some lower jobs recently, sometimes picking obscure camps if others are full.
However, creating a fully function pt from only people lfg wont happen always. I let friends/lsmates know when ill be taking something up and create pseudo statiks. Have had to resort to 2boxing a pl when all I could create was a nin, 5 sam pt though, no complaints :D
For my last two low level jobs, I just power-leveled myself almost the whole way to 37 in weird setups. I think a lot of people probably do this these days due to the availability of second accounts. I'm working on DRG now and a MNK friend and I were averaging 8k/hr going from 15 to 19 in Ordelle's Cave... why party? ;p
Yep -- it's been hell trying to XP at any level under 75 for a very long time now. You pretty much need to dual-box a healer, find a friend to PL you, or work really hard to setup a low-level static to level down low. IMHO, any MMORPG that stops gaining brand new players is on the decline. I think it will be 2-4 years before FFXI starts seeing server merges, but I think it's in sight now. I doubt FFXI will ever totally die. Hell, EQ-1 is still up and running, though much reduced in numbers from when it was the only game in town.
Another reason that stops people from leveling other jobs is the inventory constrains, not everyone is willing to pay for more mules, or mule for 30 minutes gear. Beating on a dead horse, etc.Originally Posted by Okuza
Yeah, just save all low-level jobs until the expansion... you'll have no problem finding 5 others...
...shame they'll all be the same job though.
Seems to be a problem on Cerberus.
I just solo on BST Pets anyway, it's faster than PTs in the Dunes/Qufim/Jungle levels, unless some friends want to XP.
Even in the 50's, I've had problems levelling NIN, mostly from a lack of healers.
(Tonight for 2 hours, there were 20-30 people LFGing all night, 1 PLD, 1 NIN, the rest DDs, not a single mage/support)
EDIT: A healer popped, awesome >.>

Ignore Hauberk, sick of looking at Hauby for 3 years.
As long as you aren't leveling a support class or healing job, it really should be no problem to solo to at least 25, as was mentioned. Even if you don't want to do BST pets, you can do the worm route from Shakrami >>> Korroloka >>> Qufim from about 14/15 to 25.
Recently, myself and a couple friends all subbed WHM into our level 17/18 jobs and trioed worms in Korroloka by the Altepa desert... pulled in an easy 9k w/ pineapple juices and the occasional hi-potion.
Which brings me to my final point about low level jobs... if you can make your own juices and you have some hi-potion tanks lying around, there's really no reason you should *not* be soloing/duoing pre-25. XP will roll in quite fast for very little cost.
Maybe it's just your server, but I still see new players all the time on Bahamut.Originally Posted by Okuza
For low levels I prefer to just save myself the agony of dunes and Qufim parties and PL myself. Yeah, you could get better XP in a good party, but the chances of getting a good party at low-levels is extremely minute.
I would love to try to get a good solo route guide together for the wiki. At least to the 50s would be nice.
People like to cry about how slow soloing is, and then they cry just as hard that they sit around on their ass not getting invites for hours...at level 10. Invariably, they'll be the type to stare at their moogle the whole time instead of turning on the /tell chime, cranking up the sound, and doing something else.
At the very least, I solo jobs to 20, because then I can start using exp scrolls on them. Having 75 BST helps, of course, but a lot of people can 2-box a 75 mage (which I can't). And I don't even always use /BST, certainly not until around 15.
Also, when I was leveling NIN, many of my levels came from groups of fewer than 6 members, often on pets. Yeah, we had the benefit of an outside RDM, but you don't have to do it that way; it just made it faster. We didn't really need much healing, with everyone /NIN or NIN and pets dying so quickly, and you could always have 2 DDs and a mage, or a DRG/WHM, or any number of other things. Of course, it's hard to form a pickup party and try to do such things, but I probably wouldn't have any jobs at 75 beyond BRD and BST if I hadn't been in LS statics for them. The point is that it doesn't have to be a 6-person LS static, and you don't even have to invite pickup members to "fill the party". If you managed to make an Assault static, maybe you can make an exp static too.
you can do beast pets until around lvl 70. At worst you can do this for the 2-3 hours that you seek.
Or, what I suggest if you can pull it, is a Bard PL and make macros to sub in for songs, can solo chain 5 with ease and do better than 99% of the parties you'll get in.
Here's a decent guide for doing beastpets, it's a bit outdated as you can't do Bats in upper delkuft any more, but most the rest of it works.

edit: forgot the link, drank too much this...month.
People these days seems to level DD and DD
I found it really difficult to find healer/dispeller/tank when my BLU was 50-60ish few months ago.
Now playing SAM, I still the same trend.
thats maybe because 2/3 of the game jobs consists of DDsOriginally Posted by VZX
I go solo as BLU/BST 46 since I have bst at 75, but I seek and put in comment that I play BLU/WHM. Apearantly noone wants even to give BLU mainhealing or supporthealing a chance, but whatever I am still rolling wiht my 3k per hour as /BST.
I'm in a static of RDM/BRD/PLD and every party so far from 38 (when I joined) to 53 we can always find a WHM or a SMN and never 2 much less 3 DDs. Asking every person in our level range not in a party (not necessarily seeking) we've spent upwards of 2 hours looking for meleesIt's almost depressing
Yeah, it has always been that way. Before it was just harder to notice since there were just more people seeking for party at any given point.Originally Posted by Damane
