    Quick Summoning question.

    Summoning Skill+ gear, and when to wear it:

    Currently, I hit Skill+ on Summoning, as well as on Physical/Magical offensive BPs, although i'm honestly not sure it does anything, but I figure it's better to be safe than sorry. I would imagine the stats of your avatar that come from Summoning Magic are created as you summon.

    It doesn't really make sense to me (But, hey, this is SE) that swapping on some Summoning Skill+ gear will suddenly make your avatar stronger overall (i.e: modify it's stats, while it's out). When you BP, i'm not certain it affects anything either, but there's often not much better to put on in most slots, so I use it anyways. I'm fairly certain AF2 feet's "Enhances Avatar Attack" or AF2 body's "Critical Hit Rate +3%" CAN be swapped on any time after you summon. Regardless, it would be nice to have to hit a few less buttons if possible, or consolidate some things to one macro. Is there anyway to test this involving Bee genocide in South Gustaberg or something?

    I'm not a 75BST either, does any of your gear affect your pet after you've used Call Pet? Like, does Sic+ or w/e gear make the pet stronger, or just something like shorten recast or what not?

    Buff timers.


    Buffs now last longer when your skill is over cap. So you can try equipping the +skill at different times and see what (if any) effect it has on how long your buffs last. (Use rolling thunder or something btw, unless you wanna wait 10 minutes for every stoneskin to wear )

    It'd be nice to know if you could get the Accuracy bonus by just summoning in Avatar in +Skill gear, and leaving on other beneficial gear in the slot of some +Summoning Skill gear slots (i.e: Leaving on Nashira Gages instead of Summoner's Bracers, or Errant Cape instead of an Astute Cape or some other piece), after you've summoned. Not a huge advancement or whatever, but just for efficiencies sake.

    All rolling thunder (@ 269 cap no merits)

    0 +skill worn, at all: duration 1:00

    20 +skill worn while summoning, activating, and through buff duration: 1:40

    0 +skill worn while summoning, +20 worn while activating and through buff duration: 1:40

    0 +skill worn while summoning, +20 worn while activating, 0 worn for buff duration: 1:40

    20 +skill worn while summoning, 0 worn while activating and through buff duration: 1:00



    So, no, can't summon with bracers on and switch to nashira while keeping skill bonus.

    Thanks for testing... I'm still in Riverne :/ That's kind of a bit of a downer though.

    Is it safe to assume that since it works that way, you're not getting any specific bonus if summoning in +skill gear? I.e: +30 skill when Summoning, your avatar is a bit more accurate/higher base stat? I know BST's can call Carrie and it can spawn in a certain level range. However, if you took off some gear and replaced it with +skill, it'd suddenly become stronger? It's a moot point overall, cuz even the max +Summoning Skill won't make a really large difference, just more of a curiousity.

    Can't find the patch notes right now but I'm pretty sure they only made it affect pacts.

    The gear you have on while it is being summoned doesn't matter, and if you take the gear off (even if you wore it while summoning) you will lose the added accuracy. I just macro in +Skill gear for Rage and Ward.

    As the above posters said, equipment that effects summoned avatars are dynamic. As you equip avatar perpetuation cost gear, or summoning skill gear or stat enhancement gear, the effect will come on as soon as you equip the armor, and will be lost as you unequip it.

    A good example of a static bonus applied to a pet would be the Wyrm Mail for DRG. The wyvern will gain and maintain subjob traits when Called and the armor is removed, but it will not gain traits if the armor is equipped after being Called, or if the DRG zones without reequipping the Wyrm Mail (Zoning with a pet counts as a resummoning of a pet with the same exact level and stats).

    Also, to clarify, summoning skill only effects three things:
    1) Bloodpacts, as noted above. Accuracy (physical and magical) on Rages are enhanced, and durations on certain Wards are extended.
    2) Spirit casting time, which is also based on current skill level vs. capped skill for the level.
    3) Interruption rate when casting a summoning spell.

    Yeah, /sadpanda. I was hoping to be able to summon in AF2 hands, pop on Nashira and still keep whatever meager bonus the AF2 hands gave. I've always BP'd in +Skill where it was equippable.
