    Direct3d fails to initialize

Ok gentlemen, I've just finished building my new machine, and I'm getting that "Direct3d failed to initialize" error when I try to log on to FFXI.

    Relevant system info:

Windows XP Professional 64-bit edition, SP2
    Athlon 64 FX-62 2.8GHz
    EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS

I'm guessing that DirectX 10 is Vista onry since it will only let me install up to 9.2ish. After searching the forum I've gone to both nVidia and EVGA for their latest drivers, and I've run dxdiag in windows. I've adjusted the FFXI resolution in the FFXI Config. None of these fixes has solved the problem. So who has some ideas?

Edit: In FFXI Config, for some reason it keeps reverting to the default value for the Overlay Resolution. I don't understand this at all.

Edit2: Functions fine in Windower 3.3. Guess I'll quit mah bitchin ._.

    Re: Direct3d fails to initialize

This is because the resolution you use for windower is not a normal windows desktop resolution. (Not sure if it has to be equal to your desktop resolution, however.)

Basically, when you change the resolution in Windower, windower automatically changes the resolution listed in the registry for the normal FFXI startup. (not sure why it does this, but whatever). I get the same error. I just choose not to fix it because when I update the game without windower running, it gets me to the logout screen faster when it fails to load up FFXI.
