    X-Men: Messiah Complex

Who has been reading this? I have to admit that I though that it was going to suck, but so far I have to admit that I have been pleasantly surprised. Lots of entertaining twists so far, although the X-Force that is coming out of it disappointing. (Wolverine and his clone X-23 in one team? Great Shades of Fan-Boys!)

Anyone else keeping up with this?

If only... Cable & Deadpool is being cancelled at issue 50 and Cable is getting his own solo title. No word on what will happen to the Merc with a Mouth...

Not sure about his overall future but they're setting up for another Deadpool vs Wolverine throwdown in Wolverine Origins.

Well, Deadpool has about a 50% win rate against Wolverine, but this is going to be in Wolverine's comic, so I doubt Wolvy would lose very badly, if at all. Although Wolverine kinda won their last fight, so maybe its time for a Deadpool win? I heard a random rumor (a bad kind of rumor, from some random guy) that Deadpool might get put on Wolverine's new X-Team, but that doesn't make sense because Wolverine can't fucking stand him.

Maybe he'll join the Initiative (for real this time) like Ant Man did at the end of his series.

Since i've been following Cable and Deadpool since issue one and since they are obviously making him come to realize he's not such a bad guy like he thought he was, I can almost guarantee he will be cycled in on one of the X-Squads now, more than likley Force but I can see him going to Factor as well. Would definitley liven thinks up a little bit in those series as far as comedic relief, both of them have been rather emo latley.

I used to be so into comics, but every since my friend (and my source of free comics) moved away a long time ago, I've been sooooooo out of the loop

I gotta go by the comic shop and pick up December's issues, last one I read was when Lady Deathstrike popped up.

When was the last issue in the series released? I haven't followed this for a little while. It's an interesting plotline~

I don't even want to go into how much fail X-Force is going to be with Wolverine and without Cable, Domino, and Shatterstar. (I mean story-wise, I am sure that the sales will be through the roof because of the fan-boys.)

    Re: X-Men: Messiah Complex

Long answer: Gambit has been getting screwed ever since the whole storyline with him being an agent of Sinister back during the Marauder Massacre. He was kicked off the team, brought back, I think he was on fuckin' XTREME XXXXXXMEN, though honestly I try to block that out, but during that Our Lord and Savior Chris Clairemont took away Rogue's powers or some shit and then blinded Gambit and took HIS powers, then killed both of them to boot. When they were brought back, Rogue was wielding all the powers she got back EVAR and Gambit was all emo because of it. Then Mystique infiltrated the X-Men as a part of Gambit's squad, tried to seduce him, taunted Rogue about it, and made them break up while trying to get Rogue with some random dude who's immune to her power. Then Apocalypse attacks and Gambit joins up to become the new Death. That's when things get really dumb. After a while, I guess, Gambit leaves Apocalypse and shows up in the new Marauders team they put together for Messiah Complex. And that's where we are now.

    Short answer: Chris Clairemont.

    Short answer: Chris Clairemont.
Actually, Chris Claremont treated Gambit better than any other writer in over a decade. Scott Lobdell was the one who wrote that Gambit worked for Mr. Sinister, Chuck Austen wrote the horrible storyline where he went blind, and Peter Milligan wrote the fantastically wretched storyline where he became a horseman of Apocalypse. At least Chris Claremont tried to emphasize that Gambit is a basically good person, and that he and Rogue were supposed to be together, unlike pretty much any other writer that has shit up the character. (We'll see how far Mike Carey will go to salvage his character.)

But hell, were it up to me, I would just explain nearly everything* since the last few issues of Grant Morrison's run as the Scarlet Witch manipulating reality. Xorn makes sense, Jean is alive, Nurse Anne never existed, Nightcrawler's origin isn't flamboyantly stupid, Archangel isn't a pedo, Polaris isn't schizophrenic, no one treats Professor Xavier like a dick, Gambit didn't become a horseman, Sunfire is just a prick and not evil, Apocalypse isn't lame, the Stepford Cuckoos don't have a ridiculously stupid origin, and the X-Men weren't stupid enough to let Mystique or Lady Mastermind join.

*Except for Astonishing X-Men, which is just awesome.

So long story short, don't blame Chris Claremont for the ruin of one of the best characters that he created.

Thanks for clarifying, Sep. I kind of tend to instinctively blame him for things (he IS responsible for X-Treme X-men), so I forget that everything's not his fault.

    spoilers galore

    - X-Force blows, i don't like any of them
    - Cable has been pretty obvious/boring? Cable without Deadpool is going to blow.
    - what the hell is the point of Predator X? plot device to destroy the school so that there won't be one left after this is over?
    - Bishop thing was a long time coming.
    - Layla Miller better be back intact on X-Factor or i'll be really pissed.

    Re: X-Men: Messiah Complex

Was Endangered Species any good? I picked up the first 3 issues or so, but stopped because it got boring to me. That whole "Beast is begging all the world's super villian evil geniuses to save the mutant race" thing seemed pretty strange over all. I wanna pick up MC because of the good feedback I've heard here, but I'll wait on paper backs. Issue buying is flooding my room with clutter.
