    Attn: Trend Users

    This is just an FYI to any of you that use Trend or if your business uses Trend OfficeScan. At our business we had an update on Apr.22 that's caused many many issues with our retail registers and PC's. Most common issue is a program freezing up when trying to launch, and in such a way that you can't kill the process immediately. Usually have to reboot for a quick fix.

    Just a heads up in case your PC has been freaking out lately and you use Trend, this is probably the reason. I'll update when we have a for sure fix from Trend. We are currently testing something now.

    Edit: Finally got through to an engineer at TrendMicro. The new ScanEngine version automatically enables realtime scaning of mapped drives and shared folders. They said that turning this feature off (as we had it set previously), should resolve the problem. As it turns out, most of the users that have had problems have had drives mapped to shared folders.

    I dont get whats wrong with mine (Dell laptop Trend Micro 14), ever since that one update I've been locked out. I try to run it and it says another copy of the program is in use please try again later. Even after restarting it says the same thing, and theres no way to end task for it either. The firewall and everything works, but I cant run the virus scan.

    Going to sound silly but have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling? Had to do that on a couple machines here. Not sure if you have the installation disk or files. Honestly if you can get it uninstalled, I would suggest AVG or something, never had one problem out of it.

    Trend is such a bitch to work with as far as support too. We are allready testing new stuff for the company, I can't wait.

    Edit: Try using this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... 96653.aspx instead of Taskmanager and see if any additional Trend processes are running, also you can try stopping the services from My computer > Manage.

    Some of the processes I know that are Trend are:
    PccNtMon.exe
    TSC.exe
    NTRtscan.exe

    Yeah I was going to reinstall it but it kept warning me I have 3 yrs remaining, but that shouldnt hurt the 3yrs if I reinstall right, I still have the codes and the direct download link that came with the laptop.

    No the codes should work fine and it shouldn't affect your 3 years, in case you haven't tried this.
