I haven't seen a thread about this anywhere on the site (forgive me if there is one already), so I thought that since the opening ceremonies are slated for a 7 am est start tomorrow morning, that a thread about people's ongoing thoughts of the activities at the games as they occur would be a good idea.

I'll start with a thought I'm having. I learned this morning that the Canadian women's soccer team beat Argentina in their opening match of the Olympics. I'm surprised they won and I hope it can help Team Canada possibly win a medal in soccer. Lord knows the Men's soccer team never will amount to anything so it's up to the women lol.

I'm going to give my thoughts on how the opening ceremonies were when I watch them tomorrow.

I have to say that other than maybe watching the basketball, the Olympics do not interest me at all this year. They could be in my backyard and I still probably wouldn't watch it.

Olympics bore me Opening ceremonies have been overrated since Barcelona, sydney's was terrible. Although china is the land of cheap fireworks, hopefully there's something worth watching this year but I highly doubt it.

Good luck with that. I'm fairly certain NBC will be ferociously defending their exclusive stranglehold on Olympics footage during and after their own live airings.

Most of the important events should however be viewable on the official NBC portal.

I've been watching NBC's coverage of the Olympics for years and its gawd awful. They only have a few hours in prime time on weeknights, some over night stuff and a lot on the weekends.

For us here in Canada, CBC's coverage is the best and I'll die defending that. They have coverage all day long for the entire two weeks and only cut away from coverage for the news and other sporting events.

Though that awesome coverage comes with a price. That price being that CBC sucks and has horrible programming so it's not like they are pre-empting any good shows to show the Olympics like NBC would lol.

I absolutely love the Olympics. I find it very intriguing to watch the world's best athletes compete in a specific sport and to achieve the title as the "world's greatest."

Outside of Basketball in the summer and Hockey in the winter I could give a rats ass about the Olympics. Honestly its boring as hell and NBC has the worst coverage imaginable (even worse than NFL Network... yes I'm serious).

While NBC does lick taint, there are more worthwhile events than just basketball. All track races up to 800m are fun to watch, and until Michael Phelps fails to get a gold in one of his events, I'll be trying to catch them all. It's pretty ridiculous that it's actually a reasonably fair expectation for him to get 8 gold medals. And yeah, obviously our basketball team has stupid amounts of talent, and Coach K is the perfect man for the job. I'll be setting my alarm for all of their games.
