All the other threads are locked, but I'll leave this open for discussion. It looks like everything is pretty much wrapped up. Thanks again to everyone who submitted questions and answers and supported the experiment. I'm going to keep doing whatever I can with the site to promote communication and of course translate Japanese info for English-speaking players. With the Tokyo Game Show coming up, we'll hopefully see a lot of cool stuff coming from Square Enix.

is this not going to be a regular event? i was kinda looking forward to hear their take on our answers, more of their questions, as well as more responses to our questions. i thought this was a very productive exercise, but just 10 questions wasn't enough space to really cover the latitude and to dig deep and answer all of our questions nor be able to share our thoughts.

The only thing that confuses me about all of this, is the fact that JP people believed that the game was supposed to be Japanese only. Going back to when the game was still in development, it was advertised as being global on all the English websites that previewed the game. Unless SE specifically lied to the Japanese about the nature of the game, I think that this may be a JP assumption about how the game should have been rather than what SE actually said when talking about the game before initial release.

I just wanted to reiterate what others are saying, collosal thanks to Elmer for taking the time and effort to make this possible.

I know it sounds cliche but I think that bridging the gap between JP and NAs communities like this and allowing us to see what we have in common rather then dwell on age old differences/stereotypes is the first step towards a better FFXI.

I was curious about this too. It could be that despite what Square Enix said, many players were still ignorant of the fact. Or, more likely, players assumed that international releases would come with their own separate servers, and not necessarily dumped onto existing ones.

Like I mentioned, I wanted to go forum to forum and do sets of questions. I don't know how practical that is as far as doing all that work, and also the fact that everyone wants to participate at once. I'm trying to think of stuff and test ideas like the shout box I added, and might do a Question of the Week thing, or I dunno. Feel free to send me an idea. :D
