My roomates and I are currently looking for new apts. to live in in Gainesville, and we think we found a really good one but it comes unfurnished. So I went to Craigslist to look at how much people charge for their furniture, and after about two hours of looking through all this stuff, I chanced upon the personal ads.

WHAT THE FUCK?

Has anyone actually like....used CL to meet people, or randomly hook up, or any of the other weird shit that people are looking for other people to do on CL? I mean, I got to one and it was like, looking for some gay guy to give me BJ in the library tomorrow, e-mail with your pic. It just ended up being hours of entertainment.

But seriously, has anyone used this? I'd be way too scared to even try it. People just post pictures of their dicks right on there, and I'm guessing they're crazy...

I had a friend tell me a story about his roommate. His roomie wanted some action, decided he didn't care what from, and posted an add on CL for it. He said about 1/2hr later some chick replied with a pic (from his description, she weighed in at around 350lb).

Now my friend didn't believe it was gonna happen, stayed up for about 2 hours later than normal waiting for this chick to come over to bone his friend. He ended up going to bed only to be woken up by their other roommate running into his room hysterically laughing cause this chick broke the slats under the other roommates bed causing it to slump in the middle.

I've met three people off of craigslist... Minus the buying / selling / apartment search stuff.

The first was actually a guy from the platonic section, we checked out a couple soccer matches at a local pub, but didn't really have much in common and didn't hang out again.

I've met two other people off the platonic section, both females. We were friends for awhile, but both had serious issues and I don't hang out with either anymore. I stopped meeting people online after this. Reality is cool.

I do still read the personal though sometimes for amusement... have you ever checked out the "best of craigslist" stuff? There's some really funny posts there on occasion.
