Brandson FFXI Maps Problem

So, a couple of friends and myself decided to try and get back into the game. I replaced my dats with brandsons custom UI and maps pack, and they work fine for me.

My neighbor tries to do to the same thing and runs into some problems. I go over his house and do it myself considering I know more about it. It seems the custom UI works fine but the map dats don't do a damn thing, it just shows that he has no map for the area. We are both on vista and the only thing I can think of that is creating a problem is maybe since he installed his game through the Vanadiel Collection DVD it did something....different?

I really have no idea what the problem is. I tried some searching and came up with nothing. So I'm reaching out to you BlueGartr, WTF is going on!? IB lolVista

Well, him and I are using he same files. And mine are working fine.

Here's an idea, don't cheat.

the maps are the same thing as using ffxiatlas, its saving a step on very poorly marked maps that we can, on our own, mark with limited information

Good point. It just bothers me that computer players can justify tampering with their files when it's an obvious advantage over console players.

DAT files are the same across platforms, if you can access your ps2/xbox hdd you can probably mod them too

I swore before I took a break (~2 years ago) I was able to view all maps using Brandson's pack. Example is Riverne A01/B01, I never officially "got" the maps, but I could see them with the map pack. Am I just remembering wrong? Can other people see maps they never got?

Yes, I was thinking the same thing so I created a level 1 character on my computer and I could still see the maps. So even if you don't have the maps they will all still appear.

It's basically the same thing except PC users get it easy with just downloading map markers already drawn on the map. Console users have to mark every map manually :/

....hahahaha, please let this thread die. I said earlier that I made a level 1 character to see if I had the maps, unfortunately I didn't know that you get your town AND the surrounding areas.

You could just ApRadar for everything, if you need the maps.

Apradar is not detectable and no one will be banned for it. In addition to that, it never will be detectable and if you think it will be you're an idiot.

I find so much irony in the fact that everyone is like "lol everyone bots" yet people are still bitching about map mods I love you guys.

eh it is cheating, if i ever get the ban hammer i can not say i did not have it coming lol. windower only really reads what is being sent to your mem as it is. Really a ps2 or 360 player who could get into their HDD could do the same.

Its MUCH easyer to do that on the pc tho.same thing goes for bots, back in the day when "i do not cheat im a ps2 player" was around someone said it in ls chat and then one the members pointed out that one the 1st cheats started with a guy who hacked into his ps2 HDD.

360 idk how that really works game has to be in at all times so really maybe its harder to work?

SE can ban us for it we all know this, but they wont.(lol i no someone will point this out the day they do) its to many players. i am willing to bet around 200,000 people play on the pc and that 80% of them use windower.

id just use the radar.

PS2 players are why the game is so limited for PC players. PC players getting modded maps is the very least we should get in return.
