Why are all the trees facing SW?
Did something happen during the war or is it just from the wind coming off the sea?

I seem to recall some CS where there was a huge explosion in Qufim Island (hence why all the trees are facing a particular direction there too)
It's probably the same thing.
if you remember post it here, I wanna see it lol
I think it was Zillar or CoP CS, might have been a windy mission... (I think it was fairly early in the story.) Was definetly something to do with Delfkutt's Tower.Originally Posted by Izzy

I know, I'm a terrible person.
Explosion on Qufim Island I believe.
so the explosion on qufim island was before the adventurers era?Originally Posted by aurik
There was a pretty cool thread here recently(I think it was bg anyway...) that showed more evidence of the explosion in other zones as well, like where the cliffs are sheared off and trees crystallized towards qufim, but I'm not sure what section it was in.
I'm pretty sure it was from a CoP cutscene, and I thought (though I could be wrong) that it wasn't delkfutts/qufim but rather the explosion at Fei'Yin or 5th Mother Crystal. Although I like the storyline and don't spam through cutscenes, I'm not an FFXI history buff like some people are here so I apologize in advance if this is wrong. They need to add an NPC that plays all the CoP cutscenes already, I'd watch them probably once a month if they did.
There was actually a pretty interesting thread related to this posted on KI:

I always assumed it's from when the gods smote Al'Taieu and what not.
I forget how they explained it but >_> you know the deal
Not counting anything involving the "comet", Atomos, or something to be explained later in FFXI, I'd say the most likely possibility is when Al'Taieu does what the quasilumins (sp) call uh...spatial something. Spatial transferring? And if it's true that Al'Taieu was that huge missing chunk on Qufim, then it makes sense. Batallia and Sauromugue would be affected because they have the Crystal Line going through them.
Not sure if there's anything like this in Rolanberry or Beaucedine, though. The former's would probably be unseen because it's covered by mountains. The latter has that shore that someone could check out, but it might not be heavily affected because as we can see in Qufim the west was "hurt" the least, plus it had other problems (attack on Fei'Yin, explosion of Vahzl crag, Shadow Lord, Odin) that may have overwritten it.
In a cutscene involving Fei'Yin, you would notice that Beaucidene Glacier used to be covered with foliage and large trees. But the cutscene showed that Fei'Yin got destroyed(?) and everything living was wiped out. I believe the same happened with Delkfutt's Tower (seeing as it is no longer a mother-crystal like Mea/Dem/Holla/Al'Taeiu)
Defulkts tower never was a mother crystal, the fifth one is Vazhl, beneath Pxo'ja. Its more like it collects the power from the crystals and beams it up to Tu'Lia
He is correct in the fact that Fei'Yin did go nuclear.
Rolanberry is landlocked and therefore not affected. Beaucedine displays the same sheered cliffs the other sea adjoining zones do.Originally Posted by Sagacious Sundi
I don't think it was the comet, or the Vahzl explosion. It was probably when Al'taieu experienced the spatial shift like Rocl said. Otherwise I don't see how an enormous comet collides with the ground and somehow manages to miss Qufim island that would seemingly be at the center of it all. And also why would the trees etc. be bent away from the sea, if the force was coming from the direction of Vahzl.
I said Al'Taieu spatially transferring, Rocl said smote!
Damn you Rocl for taking my credit.
EDIT: When I mentioned Vahzl exploding (plus all the other junk that happened in the Northlands), I was saying "in case there is nothing similar in Beaucedine, it might be because a whole bunch of other crap happened up there that may have "overwritten" the effects of the spatial transfer, or so to speak, good fellows."
I'm pretty sure they showed it in the ZM4 CS. I'm not about to go there to check though.
I think so, too. I remember some shiny crag shining up.Originally Posted by evilpaul

The Zilart wanted to open gates of paradise. The Kuluu planned an attack on Fei'Yin / Vazhl crystal. At the same exact time, Bahamut, who also wanted to stop the zilart, attacked Al'Teaiu and/or Tu'Lia. The Kuluu attacking Fei'yin completely fucks up the crystal line. Al'Teau's defense system thingymajigger activates and the city is taken out of the dimension (and is hidden inside the Al'Teau mothercrystal according to the quasiluminums). The blown out trees and the huge chunk of land missing in qufim island is from Al'Teaiu disapearing i think. The backflow of energy in the crystal line caused Tahrongi / Konschat / La Theine to become the huge valleys/chasyms they are today, and caused the climate around Fei'Yin / Vhazyl crystal to be screwed up.
There are inaccessible areas against the coastline of Beaucedine Glacier, Batallia Downs, and Sauromugue Champaign. The one in the Glacier can be seen on the map - the other two can't, but there's a tunnel in Batallia Downs that leads in that direction. Unfortunately, the tunnel is blocked and to my knowledge completely unused.
Just random meanderings earlier and I noticed them. Could be potential links to something, if you want to speculate that far - probably not, though. Assuming SE knew enough about WoTG back when these zones were made probably gives them far too much credit.
*EDIT*
There's also purple shit all over the trees in Qufim Island just like the ones in Batallia, not sure if anyone noticed.
