    Blue Mage Nerf again?

    Was fighting Cerberus earlier today on blu/thf and noticed a huge difference in damage.

    I have a complete Cannonball build , eating tacos , with ProtectIV and brd buffs and from the usual 1k+ dmg i normally do i was having problems breaking 400dmg with stoneskin down.

    I tested SA/CA/2hr when stoneskin down and just scraped over 600dmg ... which should easily be doing over 2k with ease.

    Has any one else noticed any problems?

    I think they screwed up Ranged Attacks again. Additional Effects are working on Sidewinder. I have no idea how that could possibly be related, but you know how Square-Enix is.

    Additional effects have always worked on weapon skills.

    i have never seen holy bolt dmg, or atk down proc on sidewinder or slugshot. and as the only time you're using that type of ammo on a ws is trash mobs or farming it ought to be the most likely time to see an effect like that proc.

    Cannonball isn't calculated as a ranged attack.

    1) Are you sure that he didn't throw up another Magma Hoplon which you broke with your Cannonball?

    2) Are you sure you used Chain Affinity? (Either due to possible Ululation catching it, or maybe you hit the macro but it didn't go off)

    3) Are you sure you used Sneak Attack? (same reason as above)

    That's because there's no way to (easily) notice the extra damage, and you probably killed the mobs before the status effects wore off. WS with a bloody bolt, you'll certainly notice that.

    And they haven't always procd on ws. It was ninjad in a few years back. This only applies to ranged ws, not enspells, etc.

    Add effect didn't "always" proc on ranged WS. It was a change from a few years back.

    You don't see the effect proc, and it's not in the log, but it's there. Slug something with a sleep bolt and you can see this easily.

    ws something like the melee immune gigas in apollyon NE with an enspell on and prove him wrong :S just build tp on something else, pull with something that doesn't do damage, and ws at 100%. If it drops, it's the enspell. You can even see if the damage from enspell shows up in command line of WS or not D:

    yes stoneskin was broke for the dmg i tested , and yes Chain Affinity and Sneak Attack both used

    Were you facing him? (Just in case you missed the ninja patch a year ago where if you don't face the mob SA won't work on BLU spells like it used to, and for some reason never ran into it before.)

    No. Last time "cannonball was broken", it was because physical blue magic was using main hand weapon as base damage, instead of normal 63+ based on blue magic skill.

    When Cannonball and the other Blu spells were broken a few months back, it was due to Blu spell damage being based on the base DMG of the mainhand weapon, rather than being independent of it as it had been before. That's why jobs like Drg/Blu were getting high Bludgeon damage, whereas The Big Three (Frenetic Rip, Hysteric Barrage, and Disseverment) were seeing poor damage returns.

    Ok so do we know what happened? Because I was fighting seiryu in sky today and even with SA Cannonballs weren't landing, like SA wasn't stacking... did they maybe change it to a ranged attack by accident?

    For some reason you gotta face the mob's back when casting blue magic spells with SA now. It's an annoying pain but them's the breaks.

    Though i swear my damage from spells in general seems weaker now than it used to, even the big 3, and cannonball especially feels weaker.

    idk, I did cheese hoarder and tried Cannonball on /war w/sushi and my hit rate seemed really low, I dunno if bug or cause he thf though ;x.

    My rough guess is they changed it to ranged attack category.
