Infared mouse issue

Hey folks. I use a logitech infared mouse, and lately it will stop responding for a second before resuming function. it happens at seemingly random intervals, where it stops in place, then one second later, it'll "unstick" itself. I tried checking the drivers, it says theres no issues. I installed the latest drivers, and blew into the infared area underneath the mouse to try to clear out any gunk inside, but none of that seems to work. Any suggestions? Or am i just out of luck and have to buy a new one?

Not to be redundant in asking, but is it doing this while in operation? Or just when the mouse is idle, then you come to use it and it takes a bit to become active (usable).

It happens while i'm using it, I don't seem to have the issue while trying to use it after it's been idle (so far).
