    Car Audio: iPod adapters

Anybody used this sort of thing before?

Neo Car Audio :: The leader in OEM integration.

Thinking about getting one for my ipod...my (stock/factory) CD changer doesn't do MP3s and seems to be having fits with self-made CD-R compilations so figured let's quit beating around the bush and actually get something that works with my ipod which has ALL my music anyway.

They insist it's pretty simple but I can't find installation guides or other information to back up their claims.

Honestly, for that price you can get an aftermarket headunit that is USB capable for cheaper. I bought a Pioneer HU about a year back for 165. Unless you really want to keep the factory look for some reason.

Some OEM units might have aux inputs in the back or there may be a way to hack one into it. I drive a '96 Maxima and still have the stock Bose system in it (cause I'm cheap) and I got instructions off forums for my car for adding in my own AUX hookup. It required soldering a few wires but wasn't too hard for me.

The climate controls are built into the same console as the stereo, so replacing the stereo altogether isn't really an option.

    It's an '06 Accord EX V6 if it matters/helps.

I have a similar product (different brand) and it worked fine when I got it. It was 2 years ago and I was still rockin the iPod Photo, but the unit installed easily and did what it was supposed to: controlled iPod with radio buttons, charged, paused when the car was turned off.

Of course then my iPod Photo bit the dust and I got an iPod Touch...it plays but doesn't charge and the radio buttons won't control it. Bit of a pain in the ass, especially since you have to actually look at a Touch to control it. But that's my problem not yours! Bottom line, as long as you have the right wiring harness for your car, these are pretty great.

I had the USA Spec one on my Accord and it worked about as well as I could have wanted it to. Got it from Crutchfield, came with great install directions, and it wasn't too hard to do. I did break the little door on the cubby below the HU when I removed it though.. be careful with that.

It connects to the exhaust. I never thought of that.

I got one by ipod2car or something that hooks up to the factory cd changer cable and plays thru that. Radio controls work on the ipod, but it is a bit flaky sometimes on the controls.
