Some of the shit that puts you on the sex offender list is utterly fucking ridiculous and absurd. One couple took pictures of their two babies getting out of the bathtub wrapped in towels, wal-mart associate turned them into the police, boom, both parents are registered sex offenders. While I'm sure there are a lot of serious matters that one should be cautious about, a lot of it is some of the most absurd shit ever.

I totally agree with you in that aspect, as one of my friends is a registered sex offender for peeing in bush while drunk in public near a school. But it gives descriptions to the degree, and if I see 3rd degree? That's inexcusable.

If you had an option at a 18 year old kid, clean slate to mow your lawn, or a 45 year old sex offender who has raped 2x. Who would you choose? I know this man from the five words he utters to me every week, "That will be 30 bucks". I don't know who he is or what he is capable of. There are plenty of kids who are willing to do the same work, who I would trust more.

On the flip side there were like 3 people total on my map. It's all in location.

I have no obligation to give someone a second chance. THEY fucked up. I wouldn't knowingly put a family member in harm's way out of sympathy for someone who made a stupid fucking choice.

It lists the conviction as well. Actually take a minute to look at the damn site before condemning it. If there's not enough details to confirm anything and you or your family may be interacting with these people there's still enough information to ask the local authorities and get the story straight.

And if he/she were looking for a job, I would without a doubt ask them as to why they are on this site. If they refuse to answer because it's an invasion or privacy or whatever. I'll gladly find someone else to do the job.

Read Tyche's post and my last post, you're wrong. There's a lot of idealism that goes on when constructing a permanent, unambiguous no-takebacks list like the NSOR.

There's a reason prison sentences are limited, and statutes of limitation exist. The NSOR is a lovely bleeding-heart loophole around both.
