The show about the search for the Higgs Boson is on Nat. Geo! I was channel surfing and saw it lol.
You still have cable right? I forget. I hope so, I was channel surfing and BAM!

Damn, watching Fox and the Hound with mah niece D:
Hey man i just saw angels and demons and that lhc made that god particle wow that was pretty killer
so i figure i know about as much as maxteem about physics
i wanted to be maxteem since i was 4
lol
4real tho can that thing really generate anti matter. break it down for me like you talking to colenzo or something.
like what the fuck that thing gonna do.
it kills the pope i know that
I don't have cable anymore D:
Woozie, you're doing god's work in that exoplanets thread. Your post on page 7 was a thing of beauty.
lolgod's work
That thread is amazing.
I normally don't have extended arguments with people on the forums, but I'm tired of him talking in gibberish to try to look smart. It's ridiculously obvious that he has no clue what he's talking about. And what's even more frustrating is his stubbornness. The stuff we're arguing over is so basic that even people without a physics or math background could understand it (anyone comfortable with basic algebra with a day or two to spend at the library could learn enough special relativity to understand what's going on in that discussion. It's not very advanced stuff). So there's absolutely no excuse for him to be arguing against this for so long.
On top of that, he claims to have studied General Relativity, which is much more advanced than Special Relativity (special relativity is what we're discussing). There's no way he can study GR without being very comfortable with SR, and it's clear that he's never even tried to understand the math behind SR.
He also claims to have studied QM and mathematics, which are the two areas I happen to be really strong in. That's like trying to convince someone graduating from med school that you're a neurosurgeon. If you're not really a neurosurgeon, it's going to be incredibly obvious to someone who is. I don't think he quite understands how ridiculously strong his math would have to be in order for him to understand any unification theories or any other theory in theoretical physics. You can't say "I understand theoretical physics but my math has holes in it". If your math isn't pretty freakin solid, you don't know theoretical physics.
When I listen to him talk about quantum mechanics, he literally sounds like that woman from the youtube video talking about building a a GUI interface with visual basic to get an IP address, or like the other video with the sci-fi writer with all the "techs" in the script. I try my hardest to give him the benefit of the doubt, but then he'll say things that go against mountains of experimental data. It's like he wants to make absolutely sure that every physics nerd here knows that he's a crank.
You guys should see the argument he had with Neo in the LHC thread. For someone who's been studying this since he was a zygote, he sure understands very little about it.
Here we go:

Just read neo's responses to Max and you'll see what's going on here. It's funny how similar this argument looks to the one in the exoplanets thread.
Yeah, I saw that argument. It gave me a boner.
I'm used to rolling my eyes at Neo arguing since it's always the same subject and always way overdone, but when he uses his rage for good, it's fantastic.
I swear to god that kid is Peggy Hill irl.
