    Boot Issues

My laptop started acting screwy today after I had to force it to shutoff.

    I get a process1_initialization_failed BSOD error whenever I boot.

I was able to load up in Safe Mode but any other boot configuration fails and takes me back to the BSOD.

I've googled the error message and found nothing that helped with my issues.

I installed a new Vista on the 2nd partition and can see all the original data and access it, it just won't boot when I pick the original partition of Windows.

Any suggestions or help would be great, thanks.

I heard alot of problems of dual boot with Vista.

Problem is that XP use Boot.ini and vista doesn't which can create some problems.

What you gotta do is boot with XP CD and go into repair console. When you are in it do these 2 commands.

    Fixboot
    Fixmbr

    This should fix the problem

The original OS was/is Vista Home Premium 64bit.

The 2nd partition Vista is Business.

Fixboot and Fixmbr in the command line?

If both are vista then the command line is different.

Fixboot doesn't work like that in vista i'll try to get you the real line for vista.

Also try in Bios to activate AHCI for the HDD (aka deactivate SATA)

There you go, boot with vista CD and choose command line and try this

    Bootrec.exe /FixMbr
    Bootrec.exe /FixBoot

Yeah, Kobus is gone for good. As 'sad' as it sounds, BG forums are one of the better places to get tech info, suck in almost every other area to get advice from though.

Overclock.net, Hardforum.com, TweakTown forums, and XtremeSystems are all great places to get tech help

I frequent Overclock.net the most, but look occasionally on the others

What was the reason for leaving?

Time to finally move on. Class and real life are so much more important than FFXI.

Trying the sfc/scannow thing, couldn't get to a cmd line via system restore for some reason to try Ratatapa's advice.

Ah...yea...I definitely decided my social life was much more important to me than playing a game.

Well, Scannow was able to determine that some files are screwed but not all files were fixed. Now what lol.
