    Phone/provider questions

I am thinking about switching phone providers at the moment and looking into purchasing a smart phone. i currently have T-mobile but the service sucks. I was thinking about switching to verizon or sprint and either buying the Droid for verizon or the Hero for sprint, or even waiting for the Nexus One to come out for sprint. Now verizon is $90 for unlimited everything while sprint is $70. I know Verizons service is a little better but is it worth the extra $20? is the droid so much better then the hero or nexus one? If you guys could help thanks alot.

    Droid > Hero

........ simply because verizon actually releases the updates for their HTC phones.

So droid is running the "newest" android version which is 2.0, while the hero is only running version 1.5

Sprint has said the hero will be updated to version 2.1 sometime soon, but they announced that back in oct. 2009

    *edit*

However for service.... for a price sprint could be better phone service than verizon in your house.

While I had sprint, I had a product called "Airave" its a mini-cell tower that plugs into your broadband modem like a router giving me full service for phone calls (not data). Product is $99, and a extra $5/month... I don't think verizon offers one yet.

You could buy an unlocked phone and just go with the cheapest option for the minutes you want and the unlimited dataplan.

If you're looking for the easy way out, go with AT&T and get an iphone. As much as I don't like Apple products and feel they are way overpriced the iphone is actually pretty solid and very competitively priced if you don't mind signing a 2 year contract with AT&T. Also if you are tech savvy at all you can download apps for free, load emulators/programs on your phone, and more
