Thinking about picking up this laptop next weekend

My main concern is whether or not it will be able to run FFXIV smoothly. I know the system requirements aren't out yet, but I was hoping maybe some tech buff could maybe make an educated guess.

Also if you think there's a better gaming laptop for around the same price.

I just got one as a replacement for my G71 which broke and all i had to do was pay the difference of 53 dollars..

Best lappy evar - have had mine for a month now. It's super quiet compared to my Sager and ways 1/3rd as much.

The more realistic answer is to use an Unigine benchmark tool, since that's the engine FFXIV will run off. My M11x (which that computer outspecs by miles) can run the benchmark @ 30 FPS on a mixture of highs and mids, so that laptop should be able to run the game perfectly fine. The fact that it's pumping a DX11 card makes it all the better, because tessellation is fucking awesome.

I love my desktop, it's a monster... but at work during downtime everyone has a laptop and i'm sick of using the computers at work - I hate how shitty and slow most laptops are so this might be a good choice for me.

Looks like there are a lot of models of this one, should I hold off on the bestbuy version and pick up a different one? or a 15inch of it?

It seems a lot of people have to RMA and return these constantly for simple things, so I think the best buy version is best for me - that way I can also build some credit off it.

I decided on the version for $1,199 too. I figured I'd just pick up some ram for cheap from Slickdeals or something.

I went in to Best Buy to get it today and they didn't have any. Closest location is like an hour away, still got to see it in person though and it's pretty damn sexy.

Only complaint would be the mouse buttons, it's one solid bar that tilts to sides. I plan on getting an external mouse anyway though so it's no problem really. Also no dedicated volume buttons, not too big of a deal since they're still there and all you have to do is press Function in conjunction with whatever key.

Something pretty cool I learned while I was there though was that one of the buttons on the top left actually overclocks the CPU, awesome! :D

I APPARENTLY FUCKING DON'T, lol limited credit history. Great credit but only a car lease and cellphone have built it up. GG this thread and laptop have inspired me to build my credit and now I'm going to get slammed with 14% apr on a 1200$ laptop lol. Maybe I should get a 500-700$ LCD tv first, pay that off, then try for the BB card for the latop teehee.

I could just buy it outright but I like to go to the casino a few times a month sooooo yeah.

I could've got it, but I totally forgot I put my TV on my BB card last winter and I don't have room to put anything else. Oh well, I figure I'll just buy it outright next paycheck(Friday). I need this laptop...
