    PC Gaming Problem

I am having major issues with my PC when it comes to gaming. Anytime I play any game, not just FFXI, the frame rate drops stupidly low. After 3 or 4 minutes of retarded frame rate, it goes back to normal like nothing happened. I don't know what is wrong with my PC, but it just randomly drops in performance and then gets right back to normal. It doesn't just do it in game either, I will get lag during menu as well. Can anyone please help me out with my problem so I can get back to what I love to do?

If it helps, the computer is a HP Pavillion p6214y, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, NVIDIA 9100, Window 7 Home Premium x64.

I guess watch your processor and see if there is any program that just starts sucking up shit. Not really a PC gaming thing if it is happening outside of gaming also.

Sounds like your gpu is underclocking itself, possibly due to some heat threshold being hit or software is downclocking it.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. Use DriverCleaner.NET if you have to

By menus, I'm talking about log in screens for games. It only happens during games, nothing else.

And thanks for that website, I'll take a look at it now.

Edit: Taking a look at it now, and on the forums it feels like a lot of negative feedback. Any other ideas?

    1) Go into BIOS and turn off the CPU's built-in power saving feature. I think that might be the cause of your hiccups. Then again, it could just be lag from the game heh..

    2) Nvidia GeForce 9100 is integrated graphics, aka games will run crappy. And since your computer has a 300W power supply, your machine won't be able to support a video card upgrade until you upgrade that as well. Thankfully it looks like this PC uses a standard ATX12V size power supply so you won't have to go hunting around for something that's a special fit at a premium price.

Actually, this problem started about two months ago. It was running perfectly with any game I put on. Then sometime around April, it started to completely lag out on me. I thought it was my internet connection, but my Laptop and my Xbox never got online lag, so I figured it was the computer itself. I'll try the BIOS option though, how do I get to that?

Edit: Never mind, found it. And it didn't work either.

Experience tells me a clean reinstall is almost always faster than looking for fixes
