USPS: You're as useful as limp dick

Ok, so I sent a package to China a month ago from yesterday and it has neither reached it's destination nor made it's way back to me.

So I call the post office and they say I have to call their 1-800 number. I call them and give them the information they asked for (Some bar code number) and they tell me they have no record of anything, nothing at all.

My package didn't just disappear into thin air, so what are my options here? I was pretty pissed at the end of the convo, so I told the lady on the phone that she's as useful as a piece of limp dick and that I hope someone goes to her 90 year old grandmother and kicks the cane out of her hand.

There's gotta be someone in a higher division that I can talk to who knows what the fuck they're doing.

Basically, I was sending my Ibasso d4 mamba (portable amplifier) in for warranty to be repaired and the factory in China has never got it. I was also told to send my warranty card with it, so that's also gone.

Do you have any form of proof of postage or reciept? If you do try using that and phone again and if you dont get the answer you like ask to be put through to a supervisor or someone higher. Without any proof it did exist theres not much I can suggest apart from phone and hope or go to there complaints.

Just the bar code number from their half of the custom's form. I can call back and see if there's any more relevant information on that form, but I no longer have my copy (got lost in my luggage somewhere, as I was out of state when I sent it). Perhaps I could have my mother pick up their copy of the form? I was visiting her, so that post office is by her house.

Other than that, they're giving me the complete run-around.

Well anything that shows you sent it in the first place can work in your favour but unless it was insured I don't really see anything other than an apology if they have lost it. Although since I live in scotland don't really know much about what happens with lost international parcels in the US.

Did you pay for shipping with a credit card? May want to get a copy of your statement if you did.

One thing I have learned from dealing with SE is that talking to tier 1 support people with any kind of nonstandard complaint is a waste if time. Next time you call them, immediately go up the chain of command. Make it clear you're in a rage and they're best off tossing the phoe to their boss.

Ps. Scan/photocopy your warrantee card next time.

No, I paid with cash because my mom paid for me (had I paid myself, I'd have used my card.)

If it makes a difference, they were out of like four of the smaller sizes at the post office and the lady said my only option was to get a larger mail bubble wrap letter and just roll it up and she clear taped it once it rolled up. Not sure if such an irregular package may have had something to do with it, but that's what the lady told me to do.

That really sucks that you are dealing with this. I was just thinking in my head how useless the USPS is. I ordered something from a website about a week ago and they gave me a tracking number. The problem is that unlike ups and fedex the usps doesn't update the information on the tracking number until it is delivered. So it still says getting ready to ship. What the fuck good is a tracking number that doesn't track the package?

Were you given a tracking number for the package? If you tracked the package to one of their facilities and it was lost there, they are still responsible for it. If they claim they delivered the package and you can't prove otherwise, not sure there's anything you can really do.

So documentation exists that something was actually sent/delivered/signed for.

No, they wouldn't even give me the option of a tracking number unless I upgraded my shipping, which was like the flat rate (double the cost of what it woulda cost to send by weight).

No I am not worried about my package. I am not having the same shitty issue that Soda is having. I hope he can get his thing resolved. I was just merely pointing out that I was thinking about how annoying and worthless the usps was just 5 minutes before seeing this thread.

I was also pointing out that the usps gives you a tracking number when you ship something but that they do not update the information on their website when you look up said tracking number except for when the tracking number is created and then again after the package is delivered. UPS and Fedex will update it daily to tell you an approximate delivery date as well as where the package is currently.

    I was only responding to:
What the fuck good is a tracking number that doesn't track the package?
I didn't imply that you were worried about your package, or that the benefits were relevant to your situation.

Your response still doesn't make any sense to me based on what you were responding to. I was implying that a tracking number should track the package and give pertinent information about where it is. A tracking number that doesn't get updated is worthless. Or at least update it with a delivery estimate or something.

Soda have you tried going into the post office locally to talk to someone face to face? That seems to help get stuff done faster.

That was the first thing I did, and they just gave me the number for international, as they said they don't deal with international at that post office. (I'd have raised some hell right there, but that's not even the post office I shipped from. I shipped when I was in another state, on vacation)

This is actually false. It updates the tracking number every time it goes through another post office. but they take forever to update it though.

and to not really be all that useful, but USPS is TERRRIBLE when it comes to international. I even hate sending stuff to Canada with USPS

You asked what the fuck is a tracking number (that doesn't actively track the package) good for, and I told you. It serves as documentation that a package was actually shipped, so a seller can't just say "I shipped your shit idk what to tell you lol" without sending anything, or a buyer can't say "I didn't get your package lol, I'm going to reverse the payment(and keep your shit)", or the shipping service can't say "what package lol" like in the OP.

It was a rhetorical question. I wasn't actually asking a question that I expected to be answered which is why your response makes no fucking sense. Souj you are right sometimes they update it but they are so slow at updating the information that the package generally gets to its destination before any updates happen.

Soda do you know anyone in the state/area that can go to the post office that you shipped the package from for you with the information to inquire with that office?

Honestly think it may vary based on what branches it goes through. I can kinda see tracking as a "new" thing that not all POs are set up for, or maybe even have the manpower to dedicate to one person just scanning over every bar code that comes in. I've had times where UPS or FedEx tracking leaves me in the dark until it's on my doorstep, too.

Edit: And rereading some of CS's postings, I have a feeling the whole bubble wrap shit would've sent off some warning signs to customs or something. That just doesn't strike me as standard, even if it could've looked similar after throwing a box over it. Nonetheless, wrapping means flimsy material, and that could mean any stickers and shit would fall or get torn off. They more than likely have that speaker somewhere, but my guess would be it's their equivalent of Lost & Found.

Cream Soda, embarrassing niggas everywhere, one stereotype at a time.

Who am I kidding? Niggas don't have shame.

If you couldn't afford the tracking code then i seriously doubt you got the package insured. Right now, your package is sitting in a warehouse for customs to look over. The fact that you mentioned how irregular it was wrapped is enough to delay it for several weeks.

Next time, get the tracking or get the insurance(or both if you could afford it). Also, any important documentation(in this case your warranty card) you ever receive about anything(even passports) make a copy of and store it somewhere safe.
