    ATI Card fan speed

Having an issue with my Vcard's fan speed "regulator". See a little while back I clicked the ATI Overdrive option and unlocked it. I found out later that this disables any automatic features that the card's software uses. Now I would like to re-enable this feature, but I am having issues.

So far I have uninstalled and reinstalled all drivers and software for the video card. No dice on resetting it though. I called ATI and they suggested the drivers thing and flashing my bios, but I am not sure if I should flash the mobo bios or the Vcard bios...

    Thoughts?

You shouldn't need to flash the BIOS to get your fan speeds changing for your GPU. It might just be a conflict with the drivers.

RivaTuner supports ATI, and it's relatively hassle-free to set up for fan speed changes.

There are certain ATI cards (I dont recall which off the top of my head) which require you to flash your card to fix this exact fan issue. If you post your card info, I can find for you if that one has the issue.

Radeon HD 5770 is the card if that's the info you need, other wise tell me the method in which you want me to display the info you need.

Some time ago I also "unlocked" the ATI Overdrive option, noticed after it I had conflicts with my Afterburner fan profile for the GPU. Then I noticed it always went back to 20%, which was the ATI Overdrive speed setting for the fan. Simply clicking off ATI Overdrive in the same menu where you unlocked it fixed the problem. Afterburner was once again the dominant program after that. I never used Overdrive anyway, was just messing around with it once.

To be clear: simply turning off manual fan control in the ATI Overdrive menu didn't help, I needed to disable ATI Overdrive completely.
