    Burned fingers

So, I'm dumb and managed to pour boiling water on my hand. I've been sitting with ice on it for three hours, my fingers are red and burn like hell as soon as I take the ice off. It's 11 pm, so no chance to go to the pharmacy to get anything cooling. Any tips?

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Quoting this for truth. Was recommended this when I gave myself a nasty steam burn and it worked great.

Till recently, the only place where you could buy medication has been the pharmacy. There is a small counter in the supermarket nearby, but it closes at 10pm. Nothing that's open over the night at all.

Don't put butter or milk on it as the fats and stuff in them can get under damaged portions of the skin and cause bacteria infections (which is bad). Don't put ice on it as this slows the healing process and can damage the newly forming tissue. Run the affected area under cool water and a cool damp cloth (clean) over the area will help keep bacteria off the affected site. If blisters start forming, don't pop them and anti-burn creams are useful but only if there's no open sores. People say aloe vera helps but that's only to cool the site and not heal. Don't use stuff like neosporin, just time and bear with the pain and keep it loosely covered with a cool cloth. No tight bandages (can pull skin off).

No blisters, just red. The toothpaste really helped a lot. I ran it under water for a long time before I put ice on it as well. It's not a bad burn at all, just really annoying.

Came here to post this. Glad someone was thinking. Butter, Milk, anything oily is a BAD idea for burns. Neosporin can help prevent infection AFTER the burn doesn't feel warm to the touch or tender anymore. Also petroleum jelly is a bad idea too for the same reason.

The fuck are all these weird suggestions. Aloe Vera or bust. That shit works miracles. If you put it on right after you get burned, the amount of time it lasts is far less. Seriously, buy it. It usually comes in a big plastic container and is a blueish color.

Temperate water. Ice is bad for burns. A couple my parents' have known for years are a nurse and a chef. They've told me that ice actually makes it worse. TEMPERATE WATER.

    Sauce mother fuckers!!!

Tomato sauce I mean, it really helps. Take it from someone who used to work around 500 degree ovens.

please, no more food suggestions. We're trying to avoid bacteria here, not give them a buffet to snack on while they work on your body's defenses.

Good advice already given, no oils or fats or food put on it, just aloe or neosporin or the like, but only after the heat from the burn and any increased warmth from swelling and the like is gone. Otherwise the heat will get sealed in and damage it further.

I planted a flat palm on a red fucking hot smooth stove-top once (immediately after it was turned off). The pain would not allow me to sleep, even with ice. If there wasn't something cold on it, it was unbearable. That was a real bummer, 2nd-degree all over my palm and all 5 fingers.

The best remedy I find is not to pour boiling water on myself.
