Internet Issues

My internet will stop working for certain applications until I restart my computer. For instance, I'll be talking to somebody on Skype, but I can't load anything in Firefox. Or my skype call will die, but I can still talk to people on AIM. Or I'll be playing WoW or Counter Strike and I can still hear people talking and see them running around, but I'll be running in place on their screen. Once I restart my computer it works fine again.

This has been happening forever and pretty regularly, but I finally decided to ask for some help because of a frustrating situation that just happened. I was doing arena on WoW and I couldn't cast on my enemies, I saw them running around attacking my partner, but I couldn't interact with them. I killed WoW and started back up and I still couldn't attack them once I logged in. So I killed WoW again and started it again and I still couldn't attack them. Then my partner died and I watched them kill me with nothing I could do about it. I was talking to him on Skype the entire time and I couldn't load anything in Firefox.

I'd really appreciate not having to deal with this all the time.

Few things to check/try:

-If you have a shit-ass firewall or internet security suite, get rid of it or disable it, see if it keeps happening

-Try resetting TCP/IP

-Forward ports on your router for the games/app you use, check router firmware, load custom firmware like tomato or dd-wrt if possible

-Virus scan, follow the sticky

-Uninstall/reinstall your network card with latest drivers

-Check event log for any errors related to the network

Rofl, using that TCP/IP link made it so I can't even log into WoW, just gonna reformat and I'll try screwing with the router if it still doesn't work.
