Bad news is Sam Raimi but as great as the game was, slightly hesitant since they'll probably fuck it up.
But who knows.

The Last of Us is probably my favorite game of all time now but not really excited about this idea. Woud've been a kick ass one season t.v show though.
has zombies people will see it
I always felt the Last of Us would have been better as a movie, but having said that I have no confidence they'll do it justice.
I don't think they said Sam Raimi would be directly involved so much as it's just being done by his studio. I think this is something that could transition well, but I'm not sure if I would rather seem them potentially butcher the Joel/Ellie story or just use new characters in the same setting.
Could go either way but will probably suck. Netflix/torrents unless BG'ers say otherwise.
obligatory gerard butler n ellen page post
Came here to post this. If they don't fuck this up....
oh god
the story is basically already in movie format, as long as they attach the right talent this could be the one to break the curse
of course they have never ever ever attached the right talent to a videogame movie
i hope they cast josh brolin for it, and maybe that chick from kick-ass
the movie will only be worth it if they get ellen page to play ellie
too old
Also, based on her issues with Ellie's appearance, I doubt she'd agree to play her.
Speaking of Ellie that's gonna be a huge problem cuz kids cant act.
Destined to fail.
Unless this movie were to be some 3 1/2 hours long, or a mini-series, they would cut out way too much character development. I'm skeptical but hopeful...
Well there's plenty of in-between stuff that the game skipped through. We went through, what, five states without any coverage? Would make an excellent series to tie in the gaps and allow for a new ending (idk I liked the original ending but a new plot/resolution would be interesting). You can't really end a movie before the game's ending imo, and you can't start a movie after Joel and Ellie are together.
I'd rather see the major points in the game (Boston Capitol, Philly, Colorado, Hospital) with the rest being the stuff we never witnessed.
Eh, I'll pass. I don't trust movies based on video games to ever be good.
Don't trust it. I felt like the game's story worked better as a game because of just how involved I was with the characters. Having Ellie help me out of a jam out of no where made me like her more, playing as her as she went to help Joel out and frantically hiding from David and shit... and the end where I just stormed the people to save her without realizing what I was doing until half way through and going "She's just a video game character...I shouldn't be this upset"
I doubt it will be Joel and Ellie story though, probably something else. Their story is done, and to make it a movie and retell the same thing would be blah, to not have the VA's as the voices would be blah, to continue the story would be blah.
