Synopsis:

Fuck this prequel shit, hope this is fake. Only reason anybody would be excited for a Monsters Inc 2 is cause it would be Sully + Boo. No Boo = No Dice.

considering how well the toy story sequels did I'm not too upset about these. They often seem like fillers until they can create another one. and considering how good they are at generating unique stories, I'm willing to wait.

Plus, Lasseter might be over his head atm will all the stuff he's got on his plate with trying to fix Disney.

Btw the reason this is in the winter, is because Pixar's summer spot will be John Carter of Mars, their first live action movie.

edit: And Pixar is modular with ~3 teams working on movies simultaneously to keep up the yearly output, there is some crossover but just cause 1-2 groups are working on a sequel, the others are doing new stuff.

5 out of the first 6 Pixar films came out in November. They seemed to target the Christmas Toy demographic until they realized they'd make more money competing against an increasingly soft Summer Blockbuster season.

Not switching directors for the sequel gives me reasonably high hopes.

Not only do they make bank in the summer softspot at the theatres, but the DVDs can be pushed out by late November and they can still hit the Christmas market.

Again, no summer soft spot in Pixar's eyes when any other release by them would dilute the success of their unique IP John Carter of Mars coming out then both in terms of christmas dvd sales and summer ticket sales.
