Purchasing a turnkey website for learning tool/side-income

Hey, I'm looking to get some opinions on whether or not I'm in over my head on this idea I have about running a website with my spare time as a learning tool and hopefully make a few bucks along the way.

I have about 4 years of experience running ebay and Amazon businesses with my brother that has kept the bills paid for both parties, but not much else. There's no big moneymaking niche we have cornered, just your standard goodwill and craigslist resells with some generic chinese goods from overseas(cables, cases, etc.).

I would like to personally venture into blogging and ecommerce website-building to become more independent in the future. Through my researching about adding dropshipping to our business, I stumbled upon some SEO forums and shortly after I started learning about all the various ways to make money through websites.

I saw a poster who sells turnkey websites on ebay for those who know shitall about webdesign and implementing a store, etc. Which, happens to come with a dropshipper supplier for the webstore.

Here's one of his sites I'm interested in: http://www.ebay.com/itm/FITNESS-DROP...item2ecd1d6513

It's a pretty basic website, but I was thinking it would make a good starting point, using it as a tool to learn about SEO and social media marketing, while possibly making some decent money as I learn.

Would I be throwing my money away if I did this? I don't expect to instantly make it back the next month, even, as the description advertises. I'm just looking to invest some money that can't be put towards more inventory, right now, and really would like to be able to run my own humble business without the worry of all the stress and lack of control that comes with ebay/Amazon.

Thanks for reading my blog, yo!

looks like smarthostplus.com is their "host" but it is actually a reseller for godaddy http://www.whois.com/whois/turnkeypages.com

personally i would never use or recommend godaddy and on top of that they will charge you if you want to change hosts.

many people do have issues with godaddy for the quality of their hosting. if you want to start a website you need to learn how to set it up and manage it yourself in case a problem comes up, so you can look into it.

also $79 a year for godaddy is too high a price to pay, and you would be linked to this seller forever if you use their hosting as they will have full access to all your files etc and could at any time decide to remove your site and you will loose everything.

Might as well throw tupperware parties or sell herbalife. Because that's what you're going to be, a salesperson not an entrepreneur. If you wanna learn, start messing w/ open source shopping carts like zen cart or w/e. Goddady is fine because it's cheap as shit.

Yeah, the giant shopping cart websites for sale on ebay are just an expensive shortcut after thinking about it. The legwork done on getting adsense and dropshipping connections with the website made me think about using it as a foundation and to do some reverse-engineering to learn that way.

At this point, I will most likely take the road more traveled by learning how to do it all from scratch, grind through tutorials, etc.

I have nothing but excess time lately, so even if I only learn how to create some basic adsense blog that makes crumbs, it would still be a good motivator for me and something to keep my mind busy.
