Good internet advice guys thread.(Formally a medical thread)

So my wife has developed calluses on her heels that are pretty gnarly and started to crack but they are pretty deep. I've had her soaking her feet each night she gets home from work to try to help out, but today she called and told me after she woke up she noticed her legs were a light blue and returned to normal color a little while later, but then were back to blue again about an hour later. Had her prick her leg with a pin to make sure she had feeling but since i'm at work I can't tell.

I know that's a good indication of bad circulation or cold. Our blanket on the bed is pretty warm and we have 2 dogs that sleep with us so I can't imagine she was freezing. Anything else I should be keeping an eye on or having her watch for? I told her if her legs were still blue later today we were going to the ER or 24hr care facility.

Even if they returned to normal color? She just went to work so I can't run home and get her to the ER.

If it were red, I'd chalk it up to inflammation / skin rash / whatever and wait it out, but blue?? That is definitely not normal or healthy in any sense; wouldn't chance it for blue skin.

So the light blueness was bilateral? Does she ever have anything similar happen in her fingers, where they turn white, light blue or blue? It could be a lot of things but she should have it checked out. She has health insurance, right? Use it.

Yeah we have health insurance, it's just getting her to go and finding a time she can, since her schedule is so fucking random and she's afraid to take off any days from work. I believe it was on both legs and not just one.

Your legs being blue would be a good indication to get to the doctor. Yes, even if it went away. She could be having some serious circulation issues, it could be a symptom to something much more serious (Lupus), or it could be a rare event that means nothing.

Tests need to be done to determine what the issue is.

Aside: The only reason I mentioned lupus is because my mother in law has it, and she has very similar issues with her legs and feet.

Is she diabetic? Sounds like a silly question.

How long has this been going on for? To me it could be poor circulation but it could also be indicative of DVT (secondary to something else).

I would definitely go see a doctor, regardless.

You should just wait, see how it plays outs and then ask random, unintelligent on the internet what to do.

Oh I plan on taking her to the doctor, I was just wondering if it's an ER type of situation where I need to get her there right away, or if it's something where i'll just take her to the clinic after she gets home type thing.

I mean if it's a bad circulation + it's fucking cold right now then I can wait.

But if it's a pressing issue then I obviously need to take out some life insurance....I mean go to the ER.

Call your PCP and see what they think. I would personally be getting her ass to some form of a doctor immediately.

I'm disappointed that this thread doesn't have pictures. I can't even imagine what light blue legs could feasibly look like on a person who isn't immediately freaking out about their light blue legs. Your wife must have suuuuuper pale skin.

She does, and i'm at work so I couldn't get pictures or have an idea of how severe the discoloration was. I just contacted her at work and told her to keep an eye on her legs and that we're going to the clinic / ER when she gets home.

She's always had piss poor circulation in her feet/hands and the temperature is fucking freezing here today, but either way going to drag her out.

Sounds like you just discovered your wife is an intergalactic space alien. Or she has diabetes and/or lupus

    Heel Fissures

Get some pumice, coconut lotion, and get to work on that

    Or go see a podiatrist.
