I don't know if this pertains to other servers, but at least Bahamut.

Hacked accounts are being used to send links via /tells to hack other accounts.

The hacked accounts basically just send these fake links to people that are on that account's Friends List.

Yea some people would have to be pretty stupid to go to links sent to them by a stranger on the server, but some of these people are on their friends' lists so a person might not know it's not their friend sending the link.

Anyhow, don't go to any links sent to you by anyone, and if you do get a tell like this report it to a GM. A few people on Bahamut have already permanently lost their accounts.

Me and my friend got this last night actually. It was from a guy named Jerle. I'm pretty sure I'm not on his Friend List, though, cuz I've never heard of the guy before. He sent us a link to Mr_Argus.zip, which we were both sure was a keylogger or some sort of virus.

Makochild was the person who sent Kojuro the link. Guess that makes sense if Makochild was the first person to fall for it, then people on his /flist might fall victim to it.

Two other people in our LS were sent a similar link by Makochild with something like Shh! [Secret]. They, however, were apparently smart enough not to in install the keylogger.

people were telling me that GMs banned Jerle yesterday. He was the one who sent me one of the tells.

Makochild and Brotan were two other accounts that were sending these people tells.

it might not be friends list, it might just be random tells, who knows
regardless calling a GM is the best bet, there is a serious doubt that the accounts will be returned to the original players since the first thing changed in the CC.

So basically, do your friends a favor and call a GM, the more people who report it, the better chance they have of possibly getting thier accounts back if SE realizes this was a scam.

Though in hindsight, this is basically a harsh lesson for those stupid enough to think they can cheat, natural selection at its best.

I think almost every PC player on this forum will agree with me 100%, games arent enjoyable if you have to wait to do things and not be able to do anything else. SE just needs to stop taking the everquest approach to it with EQWindows, they cant fight it, they cant stop it, better to adopt it, do it better, and make everyone happy

Wow! This is just like in PSO where you could send someone a message saying IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII and cause them to FSOD and lose all their unbanked equipment!
