I don't care about the idiot saying he's gonna shoot the cops (with a lolflipflop?) but the fact that they shot their own fucking dog. No respect for life what-so-ever.

It boils my blood and pisses me off. A few min into the video, you hear them say "and we don't care about the dog, that's why we're sending it in." after the suspect yells he doesn't care and he'll shoot them them if they release it.

Well, the cops did exactly what they're supposed to do. The motherfucker said he "Has a gun with 13 bullets" and that he would shoot it. They released the dog, he made a sudden movement, they had to act. Dog just got caught in the crossfire.

Another idiot of my street. I'm not complaining. Also they were both bluffing. Claiming not to care about the dog was part of their bluff. The did not intend to shoot the dog, as shown by their dismay and language over the dog being shot. Oh and the dog got airlifted apparently. The dog deserved the airlift more, considering, it probably provided more to society than the dead son of a bitch ever did.

Ya, don't think for a second the cops didn't care about that dog.

Police treat their dogs with the respect of any police officer and then some, if it died it would get its own funeral and all that.

Not only was the audio misleading (as well as the heading, no way they fired 81 bullets total much less get 81 bullets into the guy) but so was the distance.

Police have to qualify with their sidearms, and although the stress of the situation impacted their aim, I would say they were about 100 feet or so away from the guy based off the spray pattern.

Police are trained and know about these situations before the run into them, this was a classic case of Death by Police and he clearly wanted to die.

They tried to save him by having the dog take him out instead of just blowing him away but his reaction to the dog wasn't very good since he took the item he was concealing in his right hand and pointed it at the officers after telling them it was a gun he planned to shoot them with. Even in the video that is zoomed in (either by who posted it, or by the camera) we have a more clear view of the guy and its hard for us to tell in real time exactly what he pointed at them until it was too late.

It looked like about 6 officers fired 4-5 rounds each and I am sure they all were very hurt and saddened about that dog and the "oh fuck" and urgent priority afterwards was to save it.

The part that annoys me is that whoever posted the video clearly wanted to portray the police as brutes who blew the guy away for no reason by altering the video sound and possibly even zooming it in a little to make it appear more in your face instead of a distanced stand off when the truth is the police risked that dog that they care more about to take the guy down and save his life instead of just blowing him away.

There has been lots of technological advancements into non-lethal force the last few years, and in the future police will have options in dealing with standoffs like this.

I was PMO in the Marine corps, and I can tell you the guys that did k-9 were all about their dogs. Every now and then wed get a new dog and some boot mp would get sent to k-9 to train him. And more often than not that same mp would be with that dog at all times at work, and you'd see them when they werent on duty out at the kennels playing with them. Police that work in k-9 usually volunteer to work there and they tend to end up caring alot about the dogs they work with.

As far as the dig getting sent in, thats just the continuum of force in action... Basically the continuum of force goes something like this:
1. Police presence
2. Verbal commands
3. Self defense techniques
4. Baton
5. Mace/OC
6. Working dog
7. This is the step where they are finally allowed to shoot at your dumb ass thats been causing all the trouble.

If I had been assaulted by a Marine with a knife on duty and had shot him, I probably would still be in the brig right now, because I would have skipped steps in the continuum of force, and a knife wouldnt be considered dangerous enough to require deadly force
. This shit isnt taken lightly as people like to think. I didnt choose to go be a cop btw, I was a airwing supply guy for 2 years and they were like "LOL we need more cops owned bitch!" Wasnt really anything I could do about it, Ive always had a bad opinion of the police and honestly still do in general, but this shit is lame to be a specific attempt to turn around an event and try to make cops look bad. Have you ever been sprayed with OC spray in your eyes? I had to as part of my qualifications, where you get sprayed directly into your open eyes, and then run thru a course where you have to fight people off. If I had a choice I think id rather be shot. Also for batons there is a class you have to take to be able to use it, on how to use it in a way that you arent going to break bones, or cause bad bodily damage. Basically used properly you would hit someone in the meaty part of the legs or arms, stay away from back, head, and chest totally. Basically beat on there appendages is the easiest way to describe it, stay away from bones/organs. Id rather get clocked with a baton then get sprayed with OC again.

Seriously, look up Oleocapsicum resin, which is what OC spray is, its a much more potent chemical than regular mace. It took me 2 full days to recover from it, I was sitting in my room in my underwear in front of a fan waving my hands in my face when my room mate got home from work that day. So yeah... I may be somewhat off with the order still, it has been a couple years, but I think the point got across that by the rules it takes alot for a cop to have the right to use deadly force.

I saw one video on cops or w/e where there was a really big guy they had up against the hood of a car and he wasn't letting them cuff him but he wasn't exactly being violent either.

They shocked the fuck out of him and he started whimpering like a puppy and was like "I'll let you cuff me or do whatever you want, just please don't do that again!"

It just seems like that type of device could be potentially fatal with people who had heart conditions.. idk though.

You're taking it out of context. When a man says he's going to shoot at you if you release the dog, then he makes a sudden movement when the dog is released... 2 + 2 = Shoot the dumbass.
