    New Multiplayer Battlefields: Salvage (12/15/2006)

    Concept

The Aht Urhgan expansion pack has introduced a myriad of new battles--from the quick, SWAT-style Assault missions to the citywide
skirmishes experienced in Besieged. Salvage continues in this tradition by offering several new exploratory missions designed for alliances. While similar to Limbus battles in that up to 18 adventurers can participate, Salvage battles are more than a relentless assault on a seemingly never-ending wave of enemies—they will require precise teamwork and impeccable strategy to complete.

    Objective

The main objective of Salvage missions is the exploration of the archaeological remains of four newly opened areas (Zhayolm Remnants, Arrapago Remnants, Bhaflau Remnants, Silver Sea Remnants) and the eradication the demonic beasts that rule their deepest depths. However, this will not be as easy as it sounds. A powerful force known only as the Pathos of Alzadaal limits the abilities of all who enter, making them easy prey for the hordes of fiends waiting in the shadows.
To complete these missions, alliances must work as one, or the treasure that slumbers in the remnants' bowels will remain lost for eternity.

    Participation

Adventurers must be level 65 or above, and be in a party/alliance of between 6 to 18 players. There are no mission rank or mercenary rank requirements.

    http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics...147/1147_5.jpg

    Remnants Permits

In addition to meeting the aforementioned criteria, adventurers also must possess a "remnants permit." This key item can be obtained in exchange for Assault points (2000) and will grant entry to any one of the four remnants. Please note that a permit can only be used once, and adventurers must wait until midnight (Earth time) before they will be allowed to purchase another.

    Area Reservation

Unlike Dynamis or Limbus, Salvage uses a battle system similar to Assault, meaning that area reservations are not required.
Also, Salvage mission time limits are all set at 100 minutes, and there are no items or monsters that can extend that limit.

    The Pathos of Alzadaal

When adventurers begin a Salvage mission, they may have as many as 20 different limits hampering their abilities, equipment, attributes, and more. The only way to reach the guardian of the area and retrieve its treasure is to remove these limits. However, removing these limits requires the defeat of the other monsters roaming the remnants.
The following is a list of the various types of Pathos:

    http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics...47/1147_11.jpg

    Imbued Items
The Pathos of Alzadaal can only be neutralized with special potions and medicines known as "imbued items." Most of these items are pathos-specific and will only cure one ailment. They can be found on monsters or within treasure coffers hidden throughout the remains.
One of the keys for success in the Salvage missions is determining in which order members of the alliance receive the imbued items.

*Players must dispose of any imbued items they bring back from the remains before they will be allowed to enter again.

SWAT-style Assault missions to the citywide
I supose they never tried penguin mating, and penguin escort one to say such thing. Like 1/4 of the assault are fun, the rest consist of doing a retarded half bugged task.

Anyway, Salvage looks pretty cool in theory. 1h30 is a decent length, not too long, not too short. 2k IS is a nice fee, and will give us a reason to waste our 100k IS.

People usually bitch about "limit" imposied, but I like the idea. Sound less annoying than CoP dyna where you just rush in to find the "???", and might force people to use different tactic.

The only thing we can hope is that the reward will be on par with dynamis and limbus,.

Some of the mobs look pretty damn amusing but uh...Well...

18 people max is a little of a disappointment. 100 hours with no extensions and plenty to do would make for little time to "farm" any valuable items. CoP Dynamis style restrictions are kinda lame too.

Ah well, might be fun anyway.

EDIT: Just noticed its Instanced, thats fucking hot.

Well, we're starting to see a trend on minimum amounts of people to enter these arenas. Guess SE doesn't like "Small manning" it. Allowing mutipule people to do these at the same time, and to do these once a day, is very nice though. We'll just have to wait and see if any types of currency or whatever also drops off these, and if the final drops are "worth" the effort,a nd aren't as awful % as the ashu talif.

I'm just glad I started saving up my IS when I realized ISNM drops weren't worth shit any more and there was an update coming up. I'll have to get more but at least I can do these for a week straight, not like it's difficult to get 2000 IS.

    Fixed to reflect reality.

Anyway, I supppose my reasons for wanting more are slightly biased, I was hoping it could be an alternative for my DLS which would see upwards of 50 to an unrestricted run. Seems they want it more like Limbus in that regard though, not necessarily a bad thing.

Screenshots look good, so I'm still excited.

Sounds like this is going to be something retarded people ever hardly do after the initial "zomgletsdosavage"

That is, unless this actually drops worthwile stuff and isn't nearly impossible to do, and the drop rates aren't shit+1.

It seems that it requires 2000 ASSAULT points, not IS.

    Uh oh?

This means that if you wish to spam Salvage, you will have to give up on assault items, and also have an 18 man crew to organise assault runs among themselves to get 2k every 2-3days.

I think this will be the make or break part. They could have it set up really well to make it challenging yet not totally crippling and lame, or they could completely blow it and have it ruin the whole thing. I think after the backlash of CoP Dynamis, they'll take a little more care in the setup.

All together, I'm pretty excited for it. The screenshots are hot.

Yeah, just realized that lol. Was about to edit my post before someone notice..oh well.

2k assault is kinda shitty lol. I guess it will force people do do them, which is good, but I dont like being forced to do stuff. Also, it will be hard to farm any point if you cant save them

I think it's gunna be like limbus with some kind of Proto-U/O at the end thats guarenteed to drop somthing, maybe drop, maybe some godly piece of the set...(I'de say they drop the things from the equipment update, but there's three of those, and four salvage.)

Which brings up another point...Nyzul Isle is mission based, not salvag based. I was kind of suprised when they didn't mention it.

<edit> anyone else getting weird d/c's?

just translated the JP playonline with the Japanese -> English Google Beta thingy.

Is to be, the [ji] the maneuvers results which are obtained with [asaruto] (2000 points) with being possible to procure in exchange, you use the maneuvers results of which maneuvers territory at that time, it can select the thing, freely.

gogo ASARUTO Points lol *cough* assault

EDIT: me and a friend in my LS have deduced that this is either a typo on both ends, or maybe they're planning on making assault points cumulative among the staging points. Anything otherwise would totally blow.
