lol... That man needs to stop talking, he did enough damage to the Star Wars legacy with Episodes 1 and 2.
Hes only ass hurt because he didnt get to use all his NEAT SPECIAL EFFECTS because he didn't have a super huge budget or some BS. I remember reading about him bitching about not having enough funds to make the original Trilogy the way he wanted.
He wasn't being serious.George Lucas presented publicist-turned-producer Sid Ganis with a lifetime achievement award at the Beverly Hilton event.
"It's testament to his skills that ('The Empire Strikes Back') is considered the best 'Star Wars' film, even though it was the worst," Lucas joshed.

But but...the internet can't lie???....
I think the quote might possibly have been a joke towards the award recipient. I doubt he would publicly bash Empire at such an event. Who knows though, stranger things have been done by him.Originally Posted by Minions

Didn't think it would cause this much of a stir. I thought it was Diva though.

How is that diva? It's two naked Harry Potter characters...
Anyway...I think this article is silly. And personally I enjoyed the first new two SW movies. Definitely not better than the originals, but I didn't think he ruined the saga or anything lol. Plus I love Natalie Portman, so that may make my opinion biased a little............
Empire Strikes Back is easily the best movie George Lucas ever wrote/directed. If you think otherwise you are just wrong.Originally Posted by Lbelle

I wasn't even born, probably not even thought of, when Empire Strikes Back came out, so you're right.

I didnt like the newer ones much, due to the fact that it had less originality (obviously), the 3 newer ones were more like "omfg CGIs!" and personally i like it when people make sets and stuff out of actual materials...its more inventive to me. I like Natalie Portman but Hayden Christiansen is a complete idiot, Revenge of the Sith was such a shallow movie, it was basically giving the message "look, you all know what happens, so here's a bunch of jedis getting tooled" and all the switching scenes back and forth was ridiculous. A New Hope was my favorite because i felt like all the characters had some important role to play, and James Earl Jones > Hayden Christiansen any day of the week.
James Earl Jones is such a pimp. He's one of the cooler actors after Samuel L. Jackson to me. They both embody awesome black actors anyway.
I like both Eddie's and Isildur's order of the movies, but disagree on the last choices for several reasons. Clones wasn't as entertaining/action packed as the others, although it did have alot of love scenes in it, and as a silly 19 year old girl I liked that stuff...so I wouldn't put it last but I can see why a true Star Wars fan would. But I wouldn't ever put Sith last, because I thought Sith had some fucking sweet moments in it, and even though it's definitely the most "ooh pretty CGI" of the three, it did have touching moments, and a really nice way of leading right into Star Wars. Plus the whole, "Anakin, you're breaking my heart..." is my favorite thing ever. I even got the action figure of Padme from that scene lol ;;
Lucas didn't direct any of the original Trilogy, and if you were going based solely off writing I would honestly put Raiders of the Lost Ark or Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade above Empire in terms of pure writing.
Sith is the best of the new ones, I don't see how anyone could argue otherwise.
The last 40 minutes of the movie (Ep. 3) completely justify the utter shit that were Episode 1 and 2 (although 2 was a lot more watchable).
"YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE. YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO DESTROY THE SITH, NOT JOIN THEM. BRING BALANCE TO THE FORCE, NOT LEAVE IT IN DARKNESS."
vs.
"PODRACING IS FUN LOL"
To me:
Empire
Sith
Hope
Clone
Return
Phantom
To me, Episode 1 and Episode 6 both suffered the same problem, having really annoying mascots drag the entire film down. Between JarJar and the Ewoks, I wanted to kill myself.
Episode 4 obviously established the entire universe, strong plot, strong acting, and gave the world Han Solo, the only Sky Pirate that outshines even Balthier.
Episode 5 continued the groundwork of 4, but had a much darker plot, stronger acting, and just overall emitted an aura of greatness.
Episode 3 was probably the closest blending of story with the Lucas "CGI at all costs" trademark of filmmaking, not to mention the story itself finally tossed the kiddie shit of Ep. 1 and 2 and went straight for the core of the Star Wars saga, betrayal and the fall from grace.
Episode 1 and 2 both had relatively horrible acting (save Liam + Ewan), a long story that dragged on and on, and just really annoying characters. Episode 2 was kind of saved by the increadible 40 minutes of action near the end though.
Ewan McGregor is the saving grace that makes the end of Revenge of the Sith trump the other movies. Everyone loves that end battle scene, and I did too, but Christiansen's acting is just so bad compared to McGregor in that scene, and in the whole movie in general. Portman put on a really fake character as well, definately not her best works. The plot and shots were awesome, but Sith was brought down by the shitty acting from Christiansen and to a lesser extent Portman. Luckily McGregor was able to make up for all of it, god that man can convey emotion.
I didn't mind Attack of the Clones, I thought the acting between Christiansen and Portman was better in it than in Sith. However, I felt that the political climate that existed in the Republic was lost in the new movies, probably because of scene cuts. There was so much going on politically that wasn't really refered to in the movies, that would have made the stories so much deeper and better if they had been expanded on, but when you have to cut a movie, the action has to stay in I suppose.
My personal order:
1. Empire
2. Jedi
3. Sith
4. Clones
5. Hope
6. Phantom
