    Temenos C2 sac pull

Not sure if this was too basic to go in the "real" Limbus section, so I'm sticking it here just in case.

This week, we did Temenos C2 for the third time using this strat (albeit with 6 people):

    http://kanican.livejournal.com/2946.html

The first 2 runs, it went great. This last time, it went great all the way up until Carby. The RDM dropped from party, pulled Carby, the WAR and NIN each voked a light ele and left the room, the RDM died, and Carby came after us anyway. Twice :/ In case you're wondering, we didn't win.

The RDM mentioned that he aggro-pulled Carby, but didn't remember if that's what he had done the first 2 runs (same RDM has sac pulled every time) or if he had cast magic on it. I have no idea, since I was out of the room every time and have non-party/alliance stuff filtered for sanity. So either he claim-pulled Carby the first two times, or SE ninja-fixed this with the last POL maintenance for no apparent reason. Or both, I guess.

Can anyone confirm whether you're supposed to aggro or claim Carby, and/or whether you've done this recently? Next run, I will probably try to just bring a WHM that can go /SMN and avoid all this crap anyway, but dammit, when I fail I like to know why.

    You do know that:

    1) Carby can easily be kited around while you kill the Light Elementals;
    2) The Light Elementals are sleepable, if you prefer to kill Carby first.

Light ele unspawn if you kill carby, no?

If you have a smn or /smn, just carby pull both ele. It works pretty well, and you can get them 1 at time. But in your case, I think one PT member might have been too close to carby on the pull, and they got shared hate from it during the suicide pull.

We carby pull that one. I can't confirm if something else works or not, maybe other ppl can chime in on that. We've actually only done that zone twice ever so sorry I can't help that much on this - that journal entry was based off our first attempt at it.

Also you don't need fire resist gear to survive Inferno like I had written in there. Couple pieces and barfire work fine.

I am usually the one that goes WHM/SMN with Kaeko and pulls the eles with Carby. I just Assault an ele and let Carbuncle die and the elemental comes on its own; then pull the Carby last.

Our second time doing it, we had all three link for some reason which we were unprepared for and wiped, but got back up, I did the exact same thing again, and no problem, just got one elemental at a time.

The elemental probably casted a buff spell and took too long to move, reaggroing carby in the process.

My group either sleeps the elementals and kills carby, or sometimes just kites carby while killing the elementals. In either case, we don't have any deaths so I don't see where people need to sac pull anything. If you can't kite carby, just sleep the damn elementals.

Not sure why a sac pull is needed in the first place.

    1) One tank pulls and kites Carbuncle, another pulls an elemental. 2nd elemental is slept. If Carbuncle becomes a problem, he is easily bound. Gravity is less reliable.
    2) Kill first elemental.
    3) Kill second elemental.
    4) Kill Carbuncle.

The light elementals will lock hate on Carby's target. Provoke will hold one still for a second, and then it goes right off after the kiter again. It's actually rather funny to watch.

My BLM-heavy limbus group doesn't have a problem with it since they almost never get hate from the light ele being fried, and when they do pull hate it swipes at them once and then goes right off after the kiter again.

W.Legs easily outrun Carby, even without Gravity.

5 blm, a pld, and a rdm is how my group does Tem-Carb.
Sleepga 2 the light eles while the pld and rdm kite around carby (grav and bind stick too damn easy) while the blms take out the elementals and rest up for carby. He's way too damn easy to kite.

    Re: Temenos C2 sac pull

As others have said, the elementals share hate with Carby. I'm not excited about chasing them around all over the place trying to kill them. It does work to sleep both of them and kill Carby first, but I'd honestly rather deal with one at a time if I can.

We don't have 5 BLMs show up to Limbus, total, and we generally do 3 areas in one night, so that setup isn't going to happen. I'm happy to go with 1 BLM. As for Inferno, with SV+Carol and Barfira, people with 0 fire resist don't even go yellow. Sometimes I don't even see their HP move. I don't mind blowing my 2-hour on Ifrit, since I personally find him more dangerous than Carbuncle (I have never landed Elegy on Ifrit).

I would have had someone go /SMN, but the only real candidate was the WHM, who had SMN at 24 (and like 500 tnl, the bastard), and I was like "Bah, we'll just do it the way we did the last 2 times". Them's the breaks. As I said, we had the RDM sac it the past 2 times, and he doesn't really care; I'd just like to figure out what went wrong both times this past run. Yes, I would ideally take someone who can go /SMN, but it doesn't always work out that way.
