Is there any way of checking the bond with my NPC?

By my reckoning I should be able to get a tactics pearl, I've done the Past Reflections quest, my NPC is level 39 and I have a choice of either seer's crown or no headgear, which indicates to me that my bond should be high enough considering you get the first headgear option at 30 bond and I've called and spoken to her at least half a dozen times since that option became available.

Anyone have any ideas on what I may have missed?

The Tactics Pearl quest is given at 35 bond, first headwear is at 30 bond. Here are my questions to help solve this mystery. When you talked to your NPC at the Rendezvous Point, was it on different RL days, and did you select the "Let's Chat" option? (You get one point max a day for selecting that one.) Did you do a full session with your NPC on the times you called him/her? Did you throw out your Signal Pearl recently? Those are the only things I can imagine are affecting your bond.

Or you got it already and didn't notice it.

That's the thing, I levelled my NPC to 38 many months ago, and she had the headgear option back then, so she was at least 30 bond and I'm pretty certain I called and chatted to her after getting that option. I decided to restart working on her two days ago, doing the Past Reflections quest. I've also talked to her twice since restarting and done two full xp sessions, getting her to ding 39. I've talked to Luto, nothing. I've checked the RP in Promyvion-Mea both days after completing the Past Reflections quest, nothing. I've never dropped my signal pearl, I've made sure it was in my inventory when checking the promy RP's, I'm really quite baffled.

I guess tomorrow will tell me 100% whether something is badly wrong, as she'll have been minimum 30 bond for the headgear, and then I'll have called/talked to her for a definite 6 points more over 3 days.

The only other thing I can think of is maybe bond deteriorates over time?

The emptiness investigation doesn't come up under the "Let's chat" option, I remember that. It comes up under whichever one it is that lets you talk about quests/etc., rather than chit-chat.

It only appears once, and then nothing until you go to a Promyvion Rendezvous Point. Like, you can come back weeks later, and your NPC still won't mention it.

Yeah, it comes from the "Let's talk about quests" option, not "Let's chat".

The only other requisite that I can think of is that you have to be on or past CoP mission 1-2. Mystery Tour also lists the quest "Past Reflection" as a prerequisite.

Yeah I meet those requirements np, CoP complete and Past Reflections done.

The only thing I can think of is that bond is capped at 30 until you've done Past Reflections, and that I needed 35 bond to activate Tactics Pearl quest, which would have been the 3 days worth of calls and chats between PR and TP quests.

Well per the wiki you have to do past reflections to increase your fello bond. I just did this last week and had to increase my bong 6 times b4 i got the tactics quest.

Our experiences match up then, just the wiki doesn't say what the original bond limit is.
