based on the fact he almost got a bridge named after him (he won in a COMPLETE landslide if i remember correctly) and the sheer number of his audience, i'd like to think he can sweep the 2008 election if he really wanted.

If he made a serious run for it, I think he has a pretty good chance. With all the emphasis last election about the youth vote, Colbert would clean up/make people vote in the 18-24 demo. Not to mention the amount of college kids that would gladly volunteer their time to work for his campaign because he's fucking Stephen Colbert.
