Hacked account question

Has anyone ever heard of anyone being hacked from the LS community on the Official Website?
Seeing as you have to put in your info to log in which I thought was crap so I am not sure if I wanna do it or not.

I believe the closest thing to what the OP is referring to was the loophole in friends list + in regards to people not resetting their passwords after having them reset by the call center? Think his is a separate question than that.

Obviously it's another topic than worries about malicious iframes on 3rd party accounts.

It makes me wonder why SE never set it up so you create an account with your typical username/password of your choice, and within said account, you enter your actual POL details to link your FFXI handles to your account, as to which it then keeps said POL login details hidden from the client....rather than having you input your POL ID everytime you want to use the damn thing.

it was indicated that it may be a risk scenario, and while it never seemed to pan out. it does, however, encourage you to type your password on potentially more PCs and more often, increasing your chances of having someone capture it through a keylogger, not to mention another login portal means another possible target for a malicious user to exploit to steal your information should an exploit be found.

I found a way around it.
I changed my pol password to RMTsuckass3467.
Logged into the ls community site.
Set it up.
Then changed my password back to one thats never been typed out anywhere on the net.

So I hope they get that password. Will just make me smile

Keyloggers, should you have one on your system, don't really work that way...

That being said, there is no immediate danger just using the site.

They'll also get the new one as long as you are on PC. IF you have a keylogger, your safest bet might be playing on console and changing your password there. Because every time you log on PC the keylogger will just record your keystrokes and send your password to them.

Dunno if I meet all the requisites, but I'm fairly certain (I've been scanning, searching, rootkitting, anti-spywaring etc) that I don't have a keylogger and my account was hacked. I didn't have an auto-login set up, but my password was autosaved when I did select my account from the initial log in screen.

We think that somehow the virus is able to read the saved password, and possibly monitors your clipboard so even if you copy/paste your password from a textfile on a removable drive you may not be safe.

I too play mainly on ps2/ps3 (and xbox before it died on me >.> ), but I occasionally log onto the PC when I need to have both or all three of our accounts logged in for something. I fear greatly for our accounts afer all these hackings, and have been changing the passwords often recently on the platforms after having logged them onto the PC with old password. I now almost exclusively now also use Firefox with NoScript, FlashBlock and AdBlock. Haven't been able to get the KeyScrambler pluging to work right yet, but am planning to use that too for added security.

I HAVE taken IT classes I repair PC and write web pages.
I was unclear, I play from PS2.
So that DOES work since they cant drop a key logger on ps2/3 or xbox to my knowledge
